The Claims Technician assist members in monitoring, reviewing, and coordinating information involving environmental and asbestos insurance claims. DUTIES: • Summarize and analyze claim documents (including historical files) as directed by the Account Manager. • Work with in-house and outside counsel, the file room and the account manager to oversee the collection, review, and response to document requests. • Assist in collection, standardization and assimilation of quantitative data necessary to evaluate large exposures. • Coordinate specific case research under the direction of the Account Manager including audit of files, and internal research to develop facts. • Prepare routine reports with the assistance of the account manager and provide reporting assistance for special assignments and projects. • Assist with policy review, analysis and documentation. • Create detailed coverage charts using MS Excel. • Review accounts for compliance with audit criteria and assist account managers in updating where necessary. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, etc.). Ability to multitask and organizational skills to easily categorize and quickly retrieve e-mail messages in an Outlook inbox. Comfortable with 10 key by touch to input financials accurately. Excellent communication skills--written, verbal, and listening. Self-motivated, able to work independently and still meet deadlines. Analytical and/or Quantitative skills and attention to detail are essential. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or substantial equivalent. Related work experience can be substituted for education. EXPERIENCE: Entry Level to three years experience in a professional office environment. Excel experience is a must.
