The Director of Behavioral Health oversees and coordinates the daily administration of clinical programs. Primary responsibilities include staff supervision, planning treatment programs, developing program policies and procedures, assigning program staff, ensuring that all programs are administered in accordance with agency philosophy, policies and procedures, government regulations and specific contract agreements.

Qualifications for Director of Behavioral Health

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, education, human services administration or other field related to human services

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in human services including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience

Certification and Licenses: NJ licensed clinical social worker (LCSW); NJ licensed professional counselor (LPC) w/CCS; NJ Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC); Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS).

Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license

Director of Behavioral Health Duties & Responsibilities

Program Oversight

  • Ensures residential clinical services are meeting agency standards, government regulations, and funder’s expectations and documented
  • Develops and implements written objective policies and procedures
  • Provides direct client treatment services (as needed), and reviews activities, including lectures and individual/group counseling
  • Ensures quality of client treatment programs through the regular review of charts and treatment/discharge plans consistent with organizational philosophy, policies and procedures
  • Reports cases of suspected child abuse and elder abuse to the New Jersey State agency having jurisdiction
  • Participates in care management coordination
  • Oversees Medical Services with collaborations with the Medical Director and Nurse
  • Compliance Review

Director of Behavioral Health Financial Responsibilities

  • Prepares and assists in the preparation of new and renewal applications for grants, contracts, and budget development
  • Monitors department expenses
  • Meets established program targets through census maintenance and service delivery

Director of Behavioral Health Clinical Supervision Responsibilities

  • Supervises clinical management of all behavioral health services (residential and outpatient)
  • Monitors staff adherence to policies and procedures
  • Supervises treatment team meetings and provides direct counseling staff supervision

Schedule:Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $65,000.00 to $90,000.00 /year
