The Stage Engineering team at Relativity Space is responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of our launch vehicle integrated stages, comprised of structures, fluids and mechanisms hardware. As a part of this team, you will be given the opportunity to conduct tests conveniently at our factory of the future and headquarters in Long Beach, CA. Unique to Relativity, you will get to work across many teams to leverage Relativity's first-of-its-kind 3D printing technology to develop world class integrated launch vehicles.

Your application will be reviewed, and if you are chosen to move forward, you will interview with Engineers at Relativity Space. If you are selected for the internship program, you will be placed on one of the below specialized teams:
  • Structures
  • Mechanisms
  • Fluids

Summer intern projects (just a few examples!)

  • Owned the full-scale separation test for our first nosecone designed to deploy a payload
  • Designed development prints and concepts for attaching Terran R secondary structure to the primary structure
  • Designed flight hardware to support payload instrumentation

  • Designed a Brushless DC Servo-Motor
  • Designed assembly tooling for the Stage Separation System
  • Developed and executed a test plan for flight hardware, such as a quick disconnect mechanism
  • Wrote scripts in python to automate data review and calibration processes

  • Completed initial designs of the Terran R raceway lines
  • Created a python generated report of the stage fluids systems

Skills/Competencies we're looking for:
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student earning your degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding of engineering science fundamentals
  • Prior relevant internship experience or engineering technical competitions preferred (e.g. FSAE, Mini-Baja, Solar Car, Rocket, Rover, etc.)
  • Experience designing (CAD), sizing (hand calcs), and analyzing (FEM) highly engineered parts

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
