Refresh Mental Health is seeking an experienced Minnesota-licensed Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary practice serving the area of St. Paul, MN into Western WI. Position Summary:

The Clinical Director will be responsible for overseeing our Outpatient Mental Health Center in Western WI, and assist in the expansion efforts of a second location in the Woodbury/St. Paul area, while still maintaining their own personal caseload. The Clinical Director coordinates the clinical component of the Center’s psychological testing and assessments, med management, and other outpatient services. The Clinical Director is responsible for supervising the clinical team, which includes interviewing, hiring and training of clinical and support staff. Responsibilities include planning and directing workloads, program schedule development, clinical compliance, addressing complaints, resolving conflicts, and maintaining their own personal caseload.

Essential Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Assign caseloads and supervise clinical staff in the delivery of therapeutic services to all patients.
  • Carries a caseload as required, based on census, and/or as needed to cover clinical absences or vacancies
  • Oversees admissions including but not limited to screening, assessment, intake, orientation, and treatment planning.
  • Develops and monitors the clinical program schedule to ensure adequate coverage in compliance with payer requirements.
  • Helps facilitate group classes and other therapy groups as needed.
  • Intervene and assist as needed with crisis prevention, crisis intervention and crisis management.
  • Responsible for overseeing the timely completion of assessments, treatment plans, and clinical documentation of clinical team.
  • Facilities weekly clinical supervision of clinicians.
  • Consults routinely with Psychiatrist and outside consultants on an as needed basis.
  • Upholds responsibilities in accordance with corporate policies, licensing regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Audits electronic clinical documentation including but not limited to assessment, treatment plan, discharge summary, individual and group notes.
  • Represents Refresh Mental Health in community meetings, conferences, trainings and presentations

Basic Education and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of a Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in marriage family therapy, counseling, psychology or social work.
  • Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Professional Counselor or Clinical Social Worker.
  • A minimum of ten years clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families with co-occurring disorders.
  • Minimum of five year supervisory experience.
  • Minnesota-licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD, PsyD, or PsyaD) Wisconsin-licensed Clinicians viewed favorably
  • Leadership experience required
  • Expertise in CARF/JCAHO (Not required but preferred)
  • Must be willing to uphold a personal patient load and maintaining a work week of 50% treatment and 50% Director duties

*Sign-on Bonus for Clinicians willing to commit to an annual employment contract bringing a current patient load, with specialties in working with children, adolescents, and willing to see patients from 3-8 pm*

Essential Operational Responsibilities:

Key Functions:

  • Recommend, develop and assist in the strategic long-range planning and budget process as it relates to all clinic departments in support of the clinics' mission, philosophy and goals and responsible for performance to budget on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for business development and expansion opportunities within assigned territories
  • Oversee the implementation of all expansion projects within assigned territories
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to management staff in establishing department objectives related to staffing, policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with leadership in the development and govern the annual budget for the clinic operations area and implements plans to achieve budgetary goals
  • Monitors compliance of all clinic metrics (Customer Service, Membership, Retention, etc.) and ensure all operational services meet regulatory and quality standards
  • Provide continual process improvement including all clinic processes and/or services
  • Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional growth and development to remain current in the changing healthcare trends as related to management of clinic operations
  • Maintain and grow relationship with referral sources
  • Plans and facilitates community outreach and education activities, as appropriate to the position; may serve as a liaison and representative to community organizations


  • Must have at least 5 years' experience with increasing management responsibility within healthcare services as the top business leader of the practice or organization
  • Must possess a strong understanding of clinic financials with the ability to analyze operations and continually implement operational improvements and processes
  • Must have strong business acumen and proven strategic leadership skills.
  • Preferred previous clinical or executive director experience a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Making solution recommendations client-focused and persuasive collaboratively with sales, managed care, or other divisional executives
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of time

$1,000 Bonus for Clinicians with WI License.

Due to high client referral volume, Midwest Psychological Services is currently looking to hire outstanding masters or doctoral-level mental health clinicians. We are seeking those with specialties in working with children, adolescents and/or adults. We are especially interested in candidates available from 3-8 pm. We provide an excellent pay and benefit package.

Position Details

Psychotherapist to provide psychotherapy primarily for adults. Expertise in treating children, adolescents and/or families would be viewed positively. Any other specialties (hypnosis, biofeedback, neurofeedback, addictions, etc.) and certifications would also be considered positively. Positions available for all clinician types (LMHC, LCSW, PhD, PsyD, etc.).

Strong earning potential with generous benefits package and a sign-on bonus for clinicians with Wisconsin licensure. Compensation at Midwest Psychological Services is competitive, based on licensure, experience and tenure.
