Job Description

Abra Kadabra Now Offering Wildlife Apprentice Program

Abra Kadabra is now offering a Wildlife Apprentice position. The wildlife industry is a small but growing sector of the pest control industry. Being on the leading edge has shown us the need for trained wildlife operators in our area.

At Abra Kadabra, we are training a new generation of wildlife control technicians. Our apprentices receive paid training ($20 - $25/hr) as they work their way to becoming full-fledged technicians. Apprentices learn wildlife biology, trapping methods and devices, basic construction skills, how to animal-proof homes, and more.

Wildlife technicians are trained in the biology and habits of target species, trapping methods and devices, common home entry points, and repair methods. They know when they live-trap a raccoon, they’ll need to check if it’s nursing and follow up at the site to look for any pups that may also be in the home before further damage occurs. Trained technicians know where to submit bats for rabies testing, how to disinfect areas with droppings, and that you cannot disinfect raccoon droppings. Our specialized knowledge pays dividends for homeowners as wildlife is safely removed and client homes are repaired to stop further intrusions.

If you like working in a lot of different areas, with your hands, and don’t mind the outdoors, this could be a new career for you.

The National Wildlife Control Operator’s Association (NWCOA) is the only professional group in the United States that is dedicated to educating operators in wildlife control. Our technicians earn certification in topics like Rodent Management, Bird Management, Structural Bat Management, Zoonotic Diseases, and other topics. Our training is designed to work hand in hand with NWCOA’s, providing our apprentices with the most robust training opportunity in the industry.

Apprentices will be paired with an experienced technician, and work their way to becoming a technician over 3-6 months. We are a small but rapidly growing company with significant advancement opportunities on the horizon. Our technicians are lucky enough to receive some of their knowledge from wildlife trapping legend Michael Tucker, one of our senior staff members. This opportunity is truly second to none.

Our company is passionate about making a positive impact in our community. We pride ourselves on getting involved in our communities through sponsorships, volunteer opportunities, and fundraisers like Toys for Tots and the Polar Plunge. We have a very team-oriented atmosphere and believe that our staff, our clients, our communities, and their families are what’s important. Our company focuses on environmental sustainability, reducing the need for pesticide applications, and utilizing humane wildlife control measures. If this sounds like the atmosphere and job for you, apply today!

Abra Kadabra offers a regular Monday-Friday schedule, competitive compensation ($20/hr - $25/hr + production bonus oppty) company van, uniform allowance, full benefits that include health insurance/dental/401K/PTO, ongoing training, a supportive, tight-knit work environment where you can grow, thrive and make a difference in the lives of your team members and our customers.
