Job Description

In accordance with the agency mission statement, the Therapist I provides ongoing individual and group counseling to assigned population. The Therapist I completes documentation requirements reflecting clinical necessity which meets program and agency standards. Therapists interact regularly with other staff, including the Health Team, and treatment providers to assess and treat individuals with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol tobacco, and/or other drugs. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, treatment planning, psycho-social assessments, client advocacy, prevention and education.

•    Completes intakes, develops treatment plans, determines clinical diagnosis and refer clients to appropriate resources internally or externally
•    Prepares, plans, facilitates, and implements direct care of consumers through groups and/or individual therapy
•    Participates in treatment team meetings providing information pertinent to welfare of consumer for supervision
•    Provides crisis assistance and consults with various third parties as deemed appropriate
•    Completes all documentation in a timely manner
•    Serves as a primary liaison to health part of core team and coordinates between all Health Team members as necessary
•    Coordinates input from all team members into the comprehensive treatment plan
•    Supervises students and other clinical support staff when required for attainment of programmatic goals
•    May provide training of specialized nature when required
•    Assists in the development and implementation of programmatic goals and objectives
•    Maintains confidentiality and informs consumers of rights and obtains necessary authorization for obtaining and releasing information
•    Maintains core competencies through continuing education and implementing skills
•    Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
•    Attends staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to learn agency policies, rules, regulations, and procedures
•    Completes all in-service training and as well as required external training
•    Completes assigned trainings according to assigned Career Path
•    Maintains effective working relationships and strategic alliances with consumers, other staff, the community and other non-profit organizations
•    Exercises independent judgment
•    Works effectively in a team environment
•    Seeks supervision as appropriate for safety of consumers and adherence to Policy and Procedures
•    Encourages team work and supports the culture and goals of the agency
•    Maintains compliance with Medicaid, Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and any other funding /contract source
•    Builds rapport and working partnerships with relevant local, state, and federal government agencies
•    Promotes community education projects to help increase awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Acute Mental Health Crises
•    Works on an emergency hotline
•    If working as a Therapist providing intakes at Jordan’s Crossing:
o    Provides assessments for level of care criteria
o    Facilitates psychoeducation groups as needed
o    Maintains intake schedules
o    Balances facility’s needs and staffing with consumer’s situation
o    Works with various departments to accommodate and meet needs of new consumers
o    Educates and informs referral sources (via telephone calls and emails) about Jordan’s Crossing program, including the requirements and admissions process
o    Make referrals to various community resources state-wide
o    Communicate with all departments regarding importance of maintaining Jordan’s Crossing census, even when challenges arise
o    Proficient at interpreting report data, communicating about any errors in a timely manner and being detail-oriented with following up on discrepancies
•    Supports and assists with the facilitation of Care Plans for consumers within the Red Rock Health Team
•    Performs other duties as assigned

•    Master’s degree – Under Supervision License eligible in state of Oklahoma
•    Bilingual preferred
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Proficient in the use of technology to perform duties
•    Possesses training and understanding of how to frame initial assessment and initial plan development in a way that adequately identifies client needs and the treatment objectives that can best be addressed in the Health Team program
•    Commitment to the mission of Red Rock BHS

•    Must have the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
•    Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
•    Ability to use telephone, PC, fax machine, copy machine, and printer
