Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Assistin implementing and supporting company standards to ensure qualityspecifications for packaging, raw ingredients, and finished products are metand food safety of manufactured products is upheld. Monitor and sample qualitycontrol plans and process control procedures to ensure production of finishedproducts is to standard.

  • Participate inensuring applicable regulatory, customer, and company requirements are met
  • Perform all duties in accordance with current GoodManufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and ensure adherence to all Food Safety (HACCPand HARPC) requirements
  • Perform daily QA walk-throughs; verify current GoodManufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and food safety protocols are always followedin the facility and set example by practicing correct cGMP procedures
  • Monitor and verify that CCPS and preventive controls(allergen controls, supplier controls, process controls, and sanitationcontrols) are in place and effectively implemented
  • Collect, analyze, and release raw ingredient,work-in-process, finished product, and retention samples as required, as wellas document information derived from analysis
  • Carry out chemical testing and physical specificationcompliance testing for applicable raw ingredient, work-in-process, finishedproduct, and retention samples; testing includes pH, brix, salinity, sensory,visual, weight, dimension, temperature checks
  • Responsible for recording and submission of rawingredient, work-in-process, finished product, water, air, employee hand swabsand environmental samples to accredited labs for analysis
  • Support foodsafety program, quality standards, and legality of products manufactured in thefacility
  • Responsible forinspecting raw materials coming in; review COAs and COCs
  • Initiate and complete the hold process fornon-conforming product, raw materials, and other materials as required; followup and complete disposition when determined
  • Assist in investigating non-conformances andcomplaints through root cause analysis and feedback management
  • Ensure that corrective and preventive actions areeffectively implemented to prevent occurrence and recurrence of deviations
  • Perform sanitation efficacy monitoring and allergentesting in the facility, such as swabbing and visual inspections
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratoryequipment, and ensure general good lab procedures
  • Performpre-operational inspections (monitoring for food safety and quality)
  • Responsible for the calibration of the metaldetection system and ensure equipment is in top performance
  • Establish quality assurance related SDS library
  • Inspect pest control devices and report findings tothe QA team
  • Safely keep records of all facility analyticalresults; ensure the good documentation practices are followed; immediatelyreport results discovered to be out of specification to the Quality AssuranceSupervisor and/ or the Quality Assurance Manager; provide documented reports(including tracking and reporting data trends) of analytical results to the QAteam
  • Responsible for maintaining the right lab suppliesand QA inventory, and for ordering needed supplies
  • Assist with regulatory and independent inspectionsand audits
  • Perform other duties as directed by QualityAssurance Manager and Quality Assurance Supervisor
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or relatedfield (Biology,
  • Microbiology, FoodMicrobiology, etc.) or sufficient experience in the food industry
  • 3 years food industry manufacturing or qualityexperience and at least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • HACCP Trained
  • Trained in a Global Food Safety Initiative(GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 5years comprehensive food processing, food safety and quality experience with anextensive background in manufacturing food industry, HACCP, USDA, or FDApreferred
  • Previous experience with GFSI standard such asBRC, SQF audits desirable

  • Computer Literacy:  Proficient in MS Applications(MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Physical Effort/Requirements:  Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee will: 
    • Stand/walk for the majority of their scheduled workshift.
    • Lift, reach, pull, push, grasp and use handsfrequently.
    • Bend and/or squat down for the majority of theirscheduled shift. Ø Climb, stoop and/or kneel rarely.
    • Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Need to see well enough to read/compose email,reports and use the computer and be proactive to internal/external customers’needs.
    • Need to speak and hear well enough to receiveinstructions and communicate with management, employees, vendors, andcustomers.
    • Be required to work irregular hours, varyingwork shifts schedules.
  • WorkEnvironment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly exposed to:
    • Production equipment
    • Hot and cold temperatures and a wet work area. Ø Cleaningchemicals
