IBMi Senior Systems Administrator required to support the their IBMi team in Project and BAU activities.

The team is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the their IBMi (AS400) server estate. In addition, they manage the supporting infrastructure attached to the IBMi (AS400) including the HMC, storage and some tape libraries. Activities included are (but not limited to): patching, capacity management, server maintenance, backup management, performance management, security, audit compliance, disaster recovery, server commissioning and decommissioning.

The applicant will design and implement solutions to improve and consolidate the IBMi estate and supporting infrastructure. This would involve keeping abreast with latest technology advances

IBMi Senior Systems Administrator - US Hours EST 9-5pm

Working within a team of 5 or 6, based internationally, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the their IBMi (AS400) server estate. In addition, they manage the supporting infrastructure attached to the IBMi including the HMC, VMAX / Storwise storage and some tape libraries

Activities include (but not limited to): patching, capacity management, server maintenance, backup management, performance management, security, audit compliance, disaster recovery, server commissioning and decommissioning

To support the their IBMi team in design and implementation of new solutions to improve and consolidate the IBMi estate and supporting infrastructure

BAU Support of IBMi systems and supporting infrastructure including backup management, disaster recovery, patching & OS upgrades

Keeping abreast with latest technology advances

Supporting Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration Management and Audit Compliance Management for IBMi, Operating system and hardware performance management, Operating system and hardware capacity management

Management and maintenance of deployed monitoring / audit tools

Availability Management, SLA adherence, Operational Documentation & Reporting Management

What you need to have:

Design, install, configure and manage IBM Power servers, HMC, IBMi LPARs, VIOS & storage implementations (Storwise / VMAX). Vmax is managed in conjunction with storage teams. QA checks & production acceptance of commissioned server builds to ensure they meet their standards. Manage and perform the decommissioning of servers.

Represent IBMi Operations in BAU & project meetings

Participate in IBMi Operations on-call rotation and 24/7 on-duty support, manage global BAU change and incident queue for their IBMi Support

Diagnose and resolve operating system and hardware incidents within SLA. Follow the hand over process between regions ensuring knowledge is transferred. Perform root cause analysis for problems and provide updates to problem management team.

Install configure and manage BRMS and BRMS Network. Configure offline backup solutions using SnapVX and/or Flashfori to automate offline backup management. Rebuild production & development servers when they are irrecoverable using BRMS recovery reports. Design DR solutions and perform Disaster Recovery exercises. Install configure and manage in-house DR solutions (VMAX replication, VMRM /DR Orchestrator),

Performance tuning and management of systems & storage (Disk /memory /CPU /network / storage). Identifying and resolving capacity constraints (system tools and LPAR2RRD)

Quarterly OS patching and vulnerability (CVE) out of cycle patching. Operating system upgrades and planning. Identify improvements to the patching process. Perform infrastructure patching / firmware and BIOS upgrades - HMC, VIOS, Storwise (V7000, V5020, V3700)

System monitoring using Nagios and IBMi tools (BigFix agent, LogRhythm)

Configure Role Swap and MFA for IBMi elevated access (Precisely Software). Ensure systems are secured for insecure protocols. Understand and manage software license compliance. IBMi certificate management. Provide audit materials / evidence and representing them on audit meetings. Manage hardware / software encryption

Ability to maintain and create new menus for backups / user access. Programming skills required in CLP (Control Language Programming), RPG-3, ILE-RPG & COBOL

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary):

1. Significant IBMi online experience

2. Strong PowerVM skills to manage VIOS and hardware V7000, V5020, V3700 Install, Configure, Manage and Troubleshoot

3. Programming skills CLP, RPG-3, ILE-RPG & COBOL

4. Expert in Storwise (V7000, V5020, V3700)

5. Hands on - do research yourself, go out clients and build out the solutions
