Mental Health Therapist- LICSW, LPCC, LP, LMFT, 4pm-12am, Thur-Mon

Required:
2,000 hours of experience providing services to persons diagnosed with a mental illness.
• Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of MN; LICSW, LP, LPCC or LMFT.

Purpose

The Mental Health Therapist provides professional, quality program services to the clients served by ReEntry House and works with other members of the team to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining an optimum quality of life consistent with client needs and preferences. The work uses evidence-based practices adapted for the agency and the client's specific needs. The emphasis is placed on working with clients in preparation for a discharge plan to a community setting and directly providing the services necessary to assist clients in achieving their goals.

Under the general supervision of the Treatment Director, this position functions as an integral part of a treatment
team and is responsible for providing individual and group therapy and participate in interdisciplinary treatment
planning by developing treatment plans, assessments and crisis intervention strategies and complete them in a
timely manner based on the requirements set by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The Mental Health
Therapist also coordinates with case managers, family members and other community providers to help ensure a continuum of care. This included monthly meetings and discharge planning.

Essential Functions

• Functions as a Primary therapist for residents admitted to the program.
• Performs diagnostic assessments if needed.
• Coordinates the admission process for new residents in concert with other team members Emergency Service Plan.
• Identifies individuals prone to having behavior emergencies and develops additional programming appropriate for their needs
• Helps defuse and de-escalate any potential behavior emergencies.
• Provides supervision to other staff who will be working with the clients.
• Responsible for coordination of their clients' care. Establishes case conferences that include the case manager, treatment team, family member or other persons the client may wish to have present. Contacts residents' family, therapists, case manager as needed.
• Produces timely reports (i.e. Quarterlies, Vulnerable Adults reports, requirements under MS 253B, etc.).
• Upon completing training, performs Discus exams.
• Participates in team meetings.
• Provides individual therapy with residents, couple and/or family counseling when appropriate.
• Provides group therapy.
• Upon successful completion of required medication test, administers medications according to ReEntry policy and procedures under the supervision of the facility's nurse.
• Function as a surveillance committee member and coordinates internal investigations and reports.
• Is familiar and maintain compliance with applicable Minnesota Statutes or rules, including, but not limited to
DHS Rule 36 (category I), MDH SLF (Class A), MS 253B, Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act.
• Facilitate discharge planning of residents and provide follow-up and assistance to the aftercare coordinator.
• Provides courteous and respectful care to all clients.
• Works effectively and professionally with other treatment team members.
• Utilize crisis assessment tools for suicidal and aggressive behavior.
• Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
• Maintain a pattern of regular work hours.
• Participate actively in on-going professional growth and development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and participate in appropriate supervision.
• Other duties as required.

Required:
2,000 hours of experience providing services to persons diagnosed with a mental illness.
• Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of MN; LICSW, LP, LPCC or LMFT.

• 15 Continuing Education (CEU) Credits per year.
Competencies

• Knowledge of modern principles, practices and techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-based treatments
and willingness to practice adherently.
• Be knowledgeable about and utilize various substance abuse treatment modalities such as harm reduction
and motivational interviewing.
• Have demonstrable working knowledge of Vulnerable Adults Laws and other pertinent rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of symptoms and course of serious and persistent mental illness as well as medications and other
therapies used to treat mental illness.
• Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques, independent living skills/teaching and crisis intervention
techniques.
• Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices.
• Develop appropriate and manage crisis therapeutic relationship with clients.
• Assess situations.
• Utilizes crisis assessment tools for suicidal and aggressive behavior.
• Helps defuse and de-escalate any potential behavior emergencies.
• Maintain compliance with applicable Minnesota Statutes or rules, including but not limited to DHS Rule 36,
Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act, HIPAA.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and be part of a team.
• Able to problem solve using analytical skills, creativity and logical thinking to reach a solution.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast paced time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple
deadlines.
• Multitask in an environment with multiple distractions is a must.
• Able to use a computer for word-processing and data base management.
• Be able to speak, clearly understand, and write the English language.
• Drive during the day or evening hours that may require you to drive in the dark.
• Be able to accommodate flexible working hours.

Essential Physical Functions:

• Type frequently.
• Drive frequently.
•• Stand occasionally.
• Walk frequently.
• Climb up to 5 flights of stairs.
• Lift 40 pounds or more.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional residential environment. Occasionally exposed to a variety of different work
conditions including but not limited to, being outdoors during inclement weather, construction sites, exposure to
excessive temperatures, hot and cold.
