Job Description

Our Innovative Company is seeking; Electrical Engineer(s) with Altium Design, Python and/or Ai Programming experience for its Sarasota facility. A candidate that has proven experience with autonomous Drones/sUAS, in both fixed-wing, VTOL, transitional aircraft and both water and/or land vehicles is desired for these position(s).

RC develops many sophisticated, advanced composites and electro-mechanical products for some of the most prominent defense, aerospace, commercial and automotive companies. Help us expand, a new, highly automated facility in Sarasota Florida.

Ideal candidate(s) should have expertise in the following areas:

  • Familiarity with I2C and UART protocols. Must have knowledge of peripheral interfacing with microcontrollers. Knowledge of SBUS is a plus.
  • Knowledge of EMI sources and mitigation techniques. Must also have awareness of magnetic fields and how they may affect instrumentation.
  • Experience with creating test plans and conducting bench tests with an oscilloscope and multimeter. Familiarity with a spectrum analyzer is a plus.
  • Must know how to code in C and C++ to customize off the shelf flight controllers for use with INAV. Programming languages will be needed for future projects requiring peripheral interfacing.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design. Experience with Altium is a plus.
  • Due to current semiconductor shortages, experience with sourcing semi’s and ensuring stock availability for production volume is required.
  • Familiarity with calculating an RF link budget. Experience with 2.4 and 5.8 GHz long range (3 – 10km) RF links is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Linux environment.
  • The ability to set up a basic wireless network.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Familiarity with quadcopter physics of flight.
  • PID tuning.
  • PCB fabrication and assembly process.
  • Interfacing sensors (Magnetometer, GPS, LiDAR, accelerometer, gyroscope, and SONAR)
  • Data analysis and graphical realization.
  • Knowledge of flight configurators such as Betaflight or INAV.
  • Knowledge of STM32 Microprocessors.

As a PCB Design Engineer (Altium), you will develop the next generation of power products for renewable energy and robotic systems! You will also create and manage CAD libraries.

Desired Skills / Experience:

· Strong experience in multi-layer PCB design using Altium is required.

· Analog Circuitry

· Battery Management

· Canbus Experience

· Ability to create and manage CAD libraries

· Exposure to high-speed and RF PCBs.

· Experience with PCB materials and BOMs would be beneficial but not essential.

· Any exposure to 3D CAD development, PCB verification, would be beneficial but not essential

· Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Provide proactive support and assistance to all customers, either external or internal

· Troubleshoot and resolve assigned technical questions and issues

· Drive resolution of customer concerns and provide feedback and discuss with product teams

· Actively monitor and provide online support through online through various mediums including cases and/or web chat as required

· With the assistance of Altium support’s ticket system, manage and monitor customer issues on a daily basis, while prioritizing and deciding on next actions

· Provide overall escalation management and technical solutions when issues are reported to them, including but not limited to, review of open issues on a daily basis, updating our customers on the status of their escalated tickets, and assisting in the reproduction of issues

· Constantly expanding product knowledge

· Contribute to the scalability of the Customer Success team through documentation and process optimization

· Use daily customer support experience to identify helpful online content for customers

· Creation of topic-based content, video tutorials and knowledge base articles as required

· Qualifications include but not limited to:

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering or related field

· Knowledge of Electronics Industry is preferred

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in PCB Design space in lieu of the preferred education

· Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills with peers and customers

· Ability to Troubleshoot complex issues

· A solid understanding of electronic design software, verification, and automation

· Must possess excellent group and interpersonal communication and presentation skills in a customer service environment, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment with passion and enthusiasm for Altium Corporate Goals, Visions, Products, and Solutions

· You're a master multitasker and can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously with outstanding attention to detail

· You have superb client-facing skills and radiate enthusiasm, high energy, poise, and confidence

· You can articulate the value proposition of a technology platform to meet client needs

· You're comfortable collaborating with both technical and business teams

· Previous experience using Altium Designer is a plus

Previous Experience in Technical Support role preferred

· Fluent in English

· Fluency in an additional language is a plus

· Be driven, self-managed, and motivated

Requirements:

· US citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card) as required by US export control laws.

· Bachelor of Science in a relevant field or BSEE

· Clean record; no felonies or nolo contendere allowed (willingness to undergo a back ground check that follows all Federal, State and local laws and guidelines)

· Capable of rapid concept visualization and ability to communicate effectively with our team of designers and engineers.

· Good verbal and written communication are a must with the analytical skills

· needed to determine best course of action, i.e., most economical processes or materials to be used.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and hit compressed deadlines with precision. These projects require a self-managing personality and the skills of an inventor.

Working conditions:

  • This job will require very little travel.
  • When not traveling, time will be spent in the office. Some remote work is ok.
