Position Overview The role of the Service Manager is to provide training and support to Journeymen Electricians in the field. This is an important role in our company because this position is directly responsible for maintaining high levels of customer service and sales objectives. Coach, supervise, and staff a team of service technicians as well as effectively communicates with customers. Much of the day will be spent traveling to job sites and accompanying Journeymen to the jobsite. Job Responsibilities Ride along with Journeymen to ensure quality service Mastering of Nexstar Service System Provide constructive feedback and coaching to Journeymen in a positive, professional and supportive manner Coach and supervise a team of service technicians Determine and communicate goals and objectives to the Journeymen Reporting of weekly activities to General Manager and Owner Understanding and managing the Dispatch role Ensure all Journeymen and Apprentices are in compliance with safety standards Conduct meaningful training sessions that will empower and motivate service technicians Effectively communicates with customers as needed, addressing customer issues timely and efficiently Handling of disciplinary issues in a timely and professional manner Guidance and coaching of apprentices as needed Ability to take incoming calls and book appointments as necessary Must be self-sufficient and be able to work independently Preferred Qualifications Training experience Nexstar Network Service System knowledge Sales experience Strong business acumen Strong verbal and written communications skills Understanding of electrical wiring and electrical codes Experience managing technicians Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required: A high school diploma or equivalent with college level coursework desired. A minimum of four years experience in a service, home repair or construction environment including hands on training and or work in electrical, employee relations, scheduling, performance reviews, conflict resolution and labor law. Valid Driver’s License Analytical skills Impeccable communication skills 3-5 years supervisory/management experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have command of all five senses sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. This includes attics, crawl spaces, and confined locations. This position will require working indoors. The employee may be called upon to be in customer or service production sites on an as need to basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Typical workweek is eight (8) to ten (10) hour workdays five (5) days per week with regular weekend work, as well as early and/or late weekday meetings with customers, vendors and staff personnel as needed. This position deals with aggressive personalities in a highly competitive industry and will be stressful. This position will spend extended periods of time driving and in the car.
