Staff Accountant
job summary:
Our client in Northern Virginia is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing department. You will be on the front lines of implementing solid accounting controls, and policies and procedures, and report to the Accounting Manager.

  • Maintain cost pool rates and review variances
  • Setup and maintain company chart of accounts (including but not limited to financial statement setups, account/organization links, project account groups, system consolidation)
  • Reconcile Costpoint Statement of Indirects to the general ledger
  • Ensure compliance with and continually improve internal controls over general ledger functions and lead ongoing transformation efforts to streamline accounting systems and drive related efficiencies throughout the company
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations with schedules/reports to support the account balances
  • Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures for various GL activities as well desktop user guides
  • Adheres to all relevant standards and principles including General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), CAS, FAR, and statutory accounting regulations for various international locations
  • Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to processes
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reporting
  • Work directly with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit requirements, managing audit request and providing requested documentation while insuring audit efficiency
  • Support due diligence and integration efforts
  • Bachelor's degree in Business with an Accounting concentration
  • 2-5 years of General Ledger Accounting and/or Financial Planning & Analysis experience in the government contracting industry
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Self-starter, team player, problem solver, and possess a high degree of integrity
