Job Summary

The purpose of the Senior IT Consultant is to assist clients with c-level consulting support across multiple strategic initiatives. Based on a thorough understanding of how to run IT operations effectively, the consultant delivers guidance on IT operational strategy, process, methods, and governance. The consultant must be both a proactive problem solver and a flexible collaborator, able to provide strong thought leadership but be shaped by client perspectives and needs.

The consultant should be able to build upon standard governance frameworks as part of their delivery (service delivery governance and architecture governance) of services to the client.  Prior experience in multiple disciplines such as IT Management, Software Development, Infrastructure Support, and IT Operations will form the skillset necessary for the Senior IT Consultant to be successful in this role.  Prior experience as a CIO in a medium or large-scale organization is desirable.

The consultant will be relied upon to:

  1. Identify client pain points in IT service delivery, management, governance, and operation
  2. Identify areas for improvement in strategy, process, methods, personnel, or governance based on client pain points
  3. Sensibly prioritize improvement efforts based on client objectives and constraints
  4. Develop improvement plans and guide clients through improvement

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assessment of IT service delivery capabilities
  • Development of recommendations for IT service delivery improvement
  • Presentation of findings in a clear, actionable manner
  • Coordinating and leading execution of IT service delivery improvement efforts on behalf of the client
  • IT policy development, including advice, guidance, and drafting of actual language
  • Work intake, deliverables management, and status reporting
  • Coordinate deliverables activities across multiple teams and stakeholders

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in IT service delivery strategy, management, or governance
  • Proven experience in customer and c-level management facing roles (3+ years)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Self-starting, flexible thinker able to self-manage

Desirable Certifications:

  • ITIL 4 Foundation or Managing Professional
  • COBIT 5 Foundation or Assessor
  • TOGAF 9 Foundation, Certified, or Business Architecture

Type and Location:

  • Full-time, W2 with competitive salary and benefits
  • 100% on-site in Columbia, SC
