This position is responsible for assisting the purchasing department with order review and placement, expediting, pricing spreadsheets, inventory maintenance, new item entry, spiff/promotion tracking, flyer proofing and system implementation, compliance with state and local restrictions, warehouse and accounts payable discrepancies, SDS maintenance updates and various purchasing projects as assigned by the Senior Buyer and Purchasing Manager.
REGULAR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare purchase orders for review and input.
Enter and place purchase orders for merchandise for stock, stocking dealer programs, miscellaneous special orders, warehouse supplies and office supplies.
Update inventory maintenance files.
Assist RSR’s operations staff with problem solving with regards to invoicing, purchase order discrepancies, damages, returns, credits, etc.
Reconcile backorders with the manufacturers.
Acquire all product specifications either from the manufacturer or through product review.
Update and enter product information in the computer system. Research product discrepancies and update the Buyers.
Monitor product restrictions and adjust inventory records accordingly.
Update Safety Data Sheets with the Compliance Department.
Enter spiffs and promotions in the system for tracking purposes and prepare documentation for vendor reimbursement.
Work with the marketing department to ensure product information/spreadsheets for printed media and online events are compiled in a timely manner and prices are updated in our system.
Attend trade shows, visit manufacturer facilities and attend company shows as required.
The Assistant Buyer must have one year of experience in a similar capacity and a bachelor’s degree; however, experience within RSR or within the shooting sports industry may substitute these requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills and analytical ability. The Assistant Buyer must be able to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with co-workers and vendors. This position requires proficiency in Word and Excel, which requires a detailed understanding of Excel spreadsheets. Information must be entered into a computer via keyboard quickly and accurately.
While performing the duties of the Assistant Buyer, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability required include, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
