Position Description

The Regional Operations Manager at R.S. Hughes is responsible for leading a cross-functional team across an assigned region and for leading all activities relating to the business operations. Our ideal applicant will have strong leadership skills, business understanding, and solid analytical and strategic thinking. Willingness to foster and incorporate change. Decision maker and effective mediator of conflicts between peers, direct reports. Must be able to travel up to 40%. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach and will be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales targets achievements. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.

Key Competencies Required to be Successful as a Regional Operations Manager

  • Ensures the business delivers against the profit and loss requirements within the current operational plan framework while uncovering additional ad hoc opportunities to add revenue and profit growth value.
  • Work toward accelerating business growth in strategic and operational plans and activities. Help drive continuous advancement in the tenor of business development activities to take top-line and bottom-line growth rates to a higher level.
  • Manage in-depth business and continue to build an operating culture of understanding and cohesiveness, while fostering and empowering entrepreneurialism at the local levels to uncover and seize opportunities. Provide transformational thinking to raise the level of performance and service delivery of the business.
  • Engage heavily in the client interface for relationship management and business development purposes. Take a leading role in the development and nurturing of significant customer relationships.
  • Oversee talent development programs and actions to enhance organizational capabilities, especially in roles of general management, inside sales, and warehouse operations.
  • Manage the planning and deployment of capital as appropriate for your region.
  • Establish oneself quickly as a leader by having in-depth insight into the business model while understanding the nuances of each division so that they can present it in terms of business value to various constituencies.
  • Fosters a culture of transparency, disciplined problem-solving, high-performance work teams, and continuous improvement. Strives to ensure the appropriate team, tools and processes are in place to support these desired cultural traits.
  • Coaches, provides feedback to and develops divisional Operation Managers. Motivates and manages to achieve annual goals/objectives set at the regional and organizational level.
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system improvements.
  • Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the company.
  • Review performance data that includes financial, sales, and activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in Management role
