Job Description
 Fleet Service Supervisor

RPM xConstruction, LLC is currently seeking a Service Supervisor to join our Fleet Department. This position works under minimal supervision and is responsible for the safe, efficient operations of all service and preventive maintenance of the fleet department, managing personnel and assets

Key Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Manages daily operations of the service department.
  2. Preventive Maintenance Mechanics, Shop Mechanics and Supervisors for all groups.
    1. Achieves department results through communicating job expectations to staff.
    2. Visits all job sites and shops, observing mechanics and supervisors while on the job such that each is observed at least once a week.
    3. Logs direct reports’ time to appropriate job codes.
    4. Verifies Supervisors are utilizing Web-Tech to track mechanics and PM trucks DOT driver hours.
  3. Ensures safety of department employees by verifying Supervisors are:
    1. Providing on the job re-training to employees, when warranted, due to weekly observations or feedback from jobsite Foremen.
    2. Ensures Supervisors are performing random physical equipment inspections each month.
    3. Performs incident investigations if Supervisor is unable to, determining and implementing any procedure or process changes to avoid similar incidents in the future.
    4. Reviews incident reports completed by employees, ensuring completion and accuracy.
  4. Handles the Work Order Process from beginning to end including but not limited to:
    1. Purchase Order utilization
    2. Core Credits
    3. Unused Parts return
    4. Used Parts Disposal 
    5. Fluids Disposal
    6. Tires Disposal 
    7. Operating Machines history
    8. Closes Work Orders 
  5. Manages the Repair process including prioritization, resource selection – in-house or outsourced, work order cost, mechanic performance and monitoring completion time.
  6. Analyzes business reports to improve key performance indicators related to labor and equipment.
  7. Oversees Mechanics 
    1. Maintains full staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training Field Mechanics, Preventive Maintenance Mechanics, Shop Mechanics and Supervisors for all groups.
  8. Establishes strategic goals for department by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information, then identifies and evaluates trends and options, choosing a course of action and defining objectives, before evaluating outcomes.
    1. Develops policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  9. Evaluates policies, procedures, and productivity standards, adjusting as needed to ensure strategic goals are met.
  10. Provides guidance to Team Members when needed or directs them to the appropriate personnel.
  11. Builds and maintains relationships with key departments and Company affiliates to ensure cooperation and teamwork.
  12. Demonstrates independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
  13. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters including hiring, firing, coaching, pay changes, recruiting, and investigations.
  14. Attends all scheduled meetings
  15. Follows all OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and other safety guidelines. 
  16. Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
  17. Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.
  18. Follows other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period.


The duties described above are not inclusive. Additional duties may be permanently assigned or required from time to time due to the need to respond to customer needs and remain competitive in the marketplace.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required


  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, logistics or supply chain management preferred.
  2. Current, valid driver’s license.
  3. Minimum of 3 years’ industry experience, 5 if no degree.
  4. Additionally, a minimum of three years’ experience supervising people
  5. Demonstrates intermediate level skills using a personal computer and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  6. Experience with GPS tracking software or capability to learn.
  7. Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  8. Understands and maintains working knowledge of facility compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, TXDOT, TNRCC, EPA and other regulatory agencies.
  9. Demonstrates critical thinking.
  10. Demonstrates solid communication, customer service skills, and verbal/written skills with all levels of company personnel and outside vendors/suppliers.
  11. Demonstrates high level of organization and attention to detail.
  12. Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and make quick decisions in the event of unforeseen situations.
  13. Intermediate math skills.
  14. Must be a team player.
