The Healthcare Programs and Policy Specialist will assist in the management of our coalition, a group of public health, research, and provider organizations; patient groups; federal agencies, industry, and funding organizations. Additionally, the Specialist will provide support to the team that oversees the organization’s initiative, a multifaceted effort that focuses on promoting access to high quality care, research, and policy to address the burden of diseases in the United States and globally. Responsibilities of the Healthcare Programs and Policy Specialist:
  • Serves as general resource to assist the team (i.e., Deputy Director, Manager, Coalition, and the Manager, Programs) with programs and projects that are a part of team initiative
  • Assists in the day-to-day administration and coordination of the team including:
    • Monitors email inbox and correspondence and responds to inquiries and/or redirects inquiries to the Team Manager
    • Establishes, implements, and maintains the team’s knowledge management system
    • Coordinates review process for applicants and onboarding of accepted new members
    • Assists the team with promotion and communications, including Twitter accounts, weekly emails, monthly e-newsletters, website, and coalition projects (e.g., public awareness and social media campaigns, etc.)
    • Assists the team with managing the Steering Committee, Working Groups, and Task Forces
  • Attends and travel to occasional sponsored meetings and events outside of normal working hours
  • Shares incoming phone, mail, and other administrative responsibilities as needed with other assistants, associates, coordinators, and specialists
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications of the Healthcare Programs and Policy Specialist
  • Bachelor’s degree required; public health, health communications or scientific background preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years professional work experience in public health, health communications, knowledge management, and/or research
  • Strong project and time management skills, as well as oral and written communication skills, to develop and implement procedures and processes that help ensure the best outcomes
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and follow-through skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage challenges with diplomacy and tact
  • Technical experience in implementing and managing virtual meetings via Zoom
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Experience and proficiency in the use of the following software: Canva, Salesforce, Google applications and other project management and communications tools
