Announcing the 2021 - 2022 RICBT Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Separate tracks are available in adult, child, health, and possibly neuropsychology.
RICBT is pleased to invite applications for our postdoctoral fellowship program in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Description and Responsibilities: Postdoctoral Fellows conduct individual and group therapy with children or adults dealing with various mental health issues including the full range of anxiety disorders, depression, self-esteem problems, and relationship concerns. They also participate in a weekly case discussion meeting with staff members. They may have the opportunity to co-lead a group with an experienced clinician. Postdocs receive individual supervision from members of the staff, are well-integrated into the flow of the practice, and have the opportunity to consult with any of the therapists at RICBT. Postdocs will also be guided in a program of reading books and treatment protocols and watching videos of experts conducting treatment. There is a monthly seminar series for all trainees in the practice in which staff members present on areas of interest.
The Specialty Tracks: Postdocs for the coming year will develop knowledge, skill, and experience in select specialty areas. The Adult-focused fellow will treat patients with various anxiety disorders, including GAD, panic, OCD, and social phobia, as well as patients with depression, self-esteem, relationship, and sleep concerns. The Child-focused fellow will treat children, teens, and their families struggling with anxiety, depression, and various internalizing and externalizing symptoms.
Other Details and Requirements: The postdoc runs from either July 1, 2021 – June, 30th, 2022, or from September 1, 2021 -August 31, 2022. The time commitment for the part-time fellowship is 10-20 hours per week. The time commitment for the full-time fellowship is 40 hours per week. This postdoc is most appropriate for students with a particular desire to excel at conducting empathic, ambitious, and evidence-based psychotherapy. Adult and child fellows will be expected to see patients one to two evenings per week and will use telehealth and be located at the North Kingstown, East Providence, or Barrington locations of RICBT. Note: Postdocs we accept will be completing an APA-approved internship/residency in clinical psychology.
