Part-Time Supplier Quality Engineer I or II

RFA Engineering  is seeking several growth-oriented entry to mid-career candidates to be part of our engineering team at our customer’s facility in Dubuque, Iowa. You will work with our experienced engineering staff and our customer's staff to provide quality engineering support for off-road equipment using state of the art engineering tools.

This position is on-site at John Deere’s world-class engineering and manufacturing center. This is a part-time time position (~20 hours, flexible) that is indefinite in duration with opportunity for professional growth, direct hire by our customer, and opportunity within our own organization.

This position will require 100% on-site support at John Deere Dubuque Works and pay will be negotiable based on applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality investigations, work with suppliers on containment and recommended actions to prevent line down situations

• Work with suppliers to identify, prioritize, and document reliability trends to develop suppliers' quality systems

• Provide improvements to product reliability and customer satisfaction through support of new product introduction programs.
• Provide quality representation to applicable meetings and reviews
• Identify improvements or deterioration in supplier product quality levels
• Drive product RGA's and develop recommendations for field action

• Participate in supplier FMEA’s and control plan reviews
• Provide supplier process and industry specific feedback in design reviews
• Drive root cause analysis with the supplier and lead corrective action process
• Manage PPAP submissions, approvals, and engineering deviations         
• Assist in resourcing projects

Requirements

• Technical, Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or related field required
• 100% On-site support at John Deere Dubuque Works
• Basic understanding of construction / off-road equipment
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• Must be a self-starter, have good communication skills, and be able to work as part of a team
• Must have a valid Drivers License

Desired Attributes

• Understanding of quality systems/tools, including APQP process
• Strengths in facilitation, documentation and leadership
• Experience with GD&T and modeling software
• Project management experience
• Ability to lead without authority
• Ability to convey topics at both a technical and high level effectively 
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
• Welding, fabrication, sheetmetal, hydraulic, electrical and/or paint experience is a plus
