Full Stack Developer

Quire is a cloud-based, technical report-writing platform built to disrupt and replace other conventional applications such as MS Word and Excel. By providing a toolkit of building blocks to reconstruct reports, Quire optimizes writing, reviewing and delivery processes, all while ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and consistency. Our technical consulting clients indicate Quire cuts their report writing time by 25-35%. Additionally, Quire reports are accessed from anywhere, working seamlessly with client's internal systems including collaborative editing, workflow tracking, mobile data collection, and big data capabilities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Full-stack Developer to join our dynamic design, development, support, and product management team at Quire. As a Full-stack Developer, you will work on both frontend and backend development, applying your expertise in Ruby and JavaScript to create robust and efficient solutions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build exciting new features or tackle complex issues that require your excellent debugging and problem-solving skills. A crucial part of your responsibilities will include contributing to our ever-growing API toolset to meet client demands. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the request/response loop and the ability to identify potential issues and resolve them effectively.

Front-end:

You must be able to write Javascript code to power our application in the browser; the ideal candidate would be familiar with the following:

• Expertise in ES6 Javascript features and best practices

• Pushing and fetching data asynchronously

• Javascript Objects, including the prototype chain

• Anonymous functions and closures

• DOM manipulation and event handling

• Data attributes

• Selecting elements via CSS Notation

• Debugging / Testing frameworks

• Performance Analysis Techniques

• 3rd party Javascript libraries, including CKEditor, Handsontable, and Leaflet

Back-end:

• On the server side you will find Ruby...lots of Ruby. You must be proficient in using the Rails framework for handling all browser and API requests, especially Ruby Controllers

• Experience with Rails Transactions with External Effects (API) and API Tokens for Authentication.

• Our data is stored in AWS Aurora; you will need to know SQL and have a basic understanding of how to analyze and optimize query performance.

• Strong knowledge of Redis for caching data and expensive computations

• Quire performs a lot of work asynchronously using Sidekiq and Amazon SQS. You should have experience with and knowledge of distributed systems and message queues to work.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated individual who desires to work as part of a team to build engaging experiences for our clients

• Able to provide and receive feedback during the design, development, test, and review processes

• Ability to understand and communicate what areas of the system are impacted by proposed changes

• Able to dig deep when investigating a problem, new technology or solution, while knowing when to ask for help

• Minimum of at least 5 years’ experience developing and maintaining frontend & backend applications

• Excellent communication skills - written, oral, and listening

• Strong time management and organizational skills

• Live in the continental United States
