Senior Accountant

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Controller, and as an integral part of Questel's accounting team, this role is responsible to serve as a team leader within the accounting department to ensure the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of the accounting records, a comprehensive set of controls, and financial records that adhere to generally accepted accounting principles for the accounting department.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting operations of one of more of Questel's subsidiaries
- Analyze accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department
- Work with the Controller on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization
- Review records of accounts to ensure accuracy
- Develop systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies
- Create processes and controls for accounting personnel
- Ensure that accounts payable is paid in a timely manner
- Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
- Assist in gathering data for the annual budget and forecasts
- Assist in the provision of information to external auditors for all audits
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with experience in Public Accounting or a CPA license is required; Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years professional accounting experience. In addition, any combination of education, professional experience, and training provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Demonstrated management and supervisory skills required
- Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to stay on task with minimal supervision and regularly report on individual and team progress
- Able to effectively multi-task in stressful situations
- Working knowledge of NetSuite Accounting or Exact software or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, regression analysis, etc.)
- Excellent ten-key and data entry skills
- Demonstrated skills in project management, negotiations, and problem-solving
- Direct experience in financial statement preparation, general ledger knowledge, account reconciliation; debit/credit knowledge preferred
- Able to complete a heavy workload within an established timeframe
- Highly motivated with a willingness to take initiative and complete assignments
- Participate in a culture of responsiveness to strengthen relationships and ensure the time needs and time of others are met and respected
- Fluent in English
- Fluency in a second language, other than English, is preferred but not required
Supervision Received:
Supervision is provided by the Controller
Supervision Exercised:
Supervision of accounts receivable & accounts payable direct reports, as assigned
