Chief Dietitian/ Director of Nutritional Services- Full Time
The Chief Clinical Dietitian functions as the Supervisor to the Clinical Nutrition Staff coordinating inpatient clinical nutrition services. Maintains open communication between the medical and nursing staff and all ancillary services to medical nutrition issues.
Supervises the in-patient clinical nutrition staff
Oversees and participates in the coordination of in-patient nutrition assessments involving all aspect of medical nutrition therapy and interventions
Develops and implements policies and procedures, standards of practice and processes to guide and support the Clinical Nutrition Staff and the Dietary Department
Ensuring appropriate nutritional care for all residents in accordance with physician orders, state/ federal regulations and resident care plans
Coordinates and integrates with other disciplines and medical services to provide the best possible resident care
Assists with the selection of staff, which is competent in job-related knowledge and skills
Evaluates performance and competence of the clinical nutrition staff on an on-going basis, ensuring that the staff is competent to provide medical nutrition services as governed by the American Dietetic Association Standards of Practices
Provides orientation, in-service and continuing education, as needed, to maintain qualified and competent staff
Performs studies and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of medical nutrition therapy services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the facility
Schedules the Clinical Nutrition Staff in order to assure medical nutrition therapy processes are being met in a timely manner
Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
Is knowledgeable regarding the duties of the Clinical Dietitian and Clinical Nutrition Assistant with the ability to perform all functions as needed
Current Registered Dietitian
Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in foods and nutrition preferred
A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care setting
