Job Summary:

Were looking for an engineer who is interested in a diverse role, designing and building mechanical and mechatronic systems in pursuit of advancing QSAI's autonomous vehicles, mobile robotics, advanced manufacturing, and sensing work. Day to day, youll design, build, customize, and test a variety of mechanics within larger mechatronic systems in a dynamic, project-focused environment. We are looking for someone with a broad curiosity and willingness to jump in, learn, and contribute in whatever ways our projects require.

What Youll Do:

  • Design mechanical and mechatronic systems applying principles of mechanics, heat transfer, fluids, and materials
  • Design models using CAD for prototyping and manufacturing
  • Support procuring and evaluating off the shelf components
  • Assist with machining and assembly of components
  • Test, troubleshoot, and document mechatronic systems
  • Work with team members to understand the systems requirements to the projects goal
  • Effectively contribute both independently and collaboratively with other members of the team after receiving initial direction and requirements from project leads

What Youll Need:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency with CAD software for mechanical components
  • Strong mathematical and physics knowledge
  • Hands on experience with machining (hand tools, bandsaw, drill press, etc.)
  • Ability to discern when you can work independently and when you need guidance and mentoring
  • Interest in learning about and applying advanced technology to new problems

Bonus Points For:

  • 1+ years of prior experience (hobby, pre-professional job, or school) working on real-world automotive, robotic, or autonomous driving systems
  • Experience in material science and structural analysis
  • Experience in electrical systems
