Maintenance Mechanic (Warehouse/Light Industrial)

Job Description

• Facilitates line set-ups, disassembly and movement of machinery.
• Observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction and making necessary repairs or modifications.
• Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.
• Fabricates replacement parts.
• Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.
• Welds to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
• Enters codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
• Use of pneumatics.
• Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces electrical wiring and components of machinery
• Experience repairing packaging machinery to include all or some of the following; Thermoformers, Bottling Lines, Vision Systems, Pneumatics, Electrical, Conveyor System, Shanklin, Videojet, Tape Machine, Pallet Wrappers, and PLC usage.
• Responsible for making repairs in an acceptable amount of time to limit the down-time of the production
• Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Educational Requirements
• High School Education; degree or certification preferred.
• At least 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a contract packaging or pharmaceutical environment.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical systems and components of diverse industrial production machinery and their attachments.
• Must display a level of comfort with basic troubleshooting on all levels of machinery in facility
• Ability to fabricate replacement parts with ease in onsite machine shop
• Basic understanding of electrical controls


• Detailed knowledge of the operating characteristics of the involved machinery, equipment, any systems, their functional relationships, and the applicable installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices with the capability of learning with on-the-job training
• Ability to read, write, and understand English (Bi-lingual skills in Spanish preferred).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP preferred.
• Perform basic math calculations (addition/subtraction).
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communications skills required.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in the warehouse environment. Frequent exposure to shop elements such as noise, moving parts, dust, and fumes. The noise level is considered usually very moderate to loud.

• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
