Job Description :
QuEST Global seeks a candidate to perform the role of Supplier Quality Engineer based in a regional QuEST (Los Angles, Brea, San Diego), and frequently travels to regional supplier sites. This is a hybrid technical role combining skills and experiences associated with Quality, Manufacturing, Design, and Supply Chain Engineering allowing QuEST to provide a full spectrum of quality services for UTAS suppliers. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop strong customer relations at all levels, drive to deliver quality products on time, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to work with a remote team as well as independently.
Perform Supplier Quality activities related to part qualification with suppliers, supplier quality issue resolution and ensuring appropriate material inspection strategies. Plan, execute, and manage quality activities with suppliers, setting a high standard and fast response expectation so quality issues are prevented or minimized. Lead with best practices to enable our organization to provide high quality medical products to our customers.
Work with Development, Manufacturing, and External Suppliers to assess risks and define CTQs. Work with suppliers to ensure all necessary quality activities are rigorously addressed during product release and change via process mapping, process FMEA, process control plan, process validation, GR&R, MSA, etc. Ensure supplier test strategy aligns with quality goals. Support targeted and “at-risk” suppliers with new product introduction and facilitate from concept to launch whilst communicating and offering solutions for any potential risks identified.
Work with/drive assigned suppliers to deliver ZDPs with all actions identified. Travel to supplier sites will be required. Supplier assignments will be made local to selected candidates to the greatest extent possible.
Maintain and report defined Supplier Quality related Metrics
Understanding and Familiarity with conducting Supplier Capacity assessments
Train suppliers on customer Zero Defect Initiative (ZDP)
Individuals will manage and collaborate with the suppliers to ensure that detection and systemic corrective actions are identified to address quality escapes that occurred at the supplier.
Responsible for reviewing and managing the supplier submittals and conduction status and material reviews as needed at the supplier's facilities.
Provide frequent report outs to customer regarding supplier performance, compliance
Monitor supplier performance, and facilitate improvement by applying sustainable countermeasures and actions, and working with supplier to manage and update supplier Sustainable Improvement Plan (SIP)
Assist suppliers in: developing and implementing KPIs, escape investigation using 8D, identifying and reduce material costs, key process identification and validation
Support Commodity Strategy through the implementation of best practice tools & techniques at key/critical suppliers and educate, develop & train these suppliers in best practice tools/techniques
Execute supplier audits and monitor supplier metrics.
Support key processes as subject matter expert.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills / experience / qualifications:
8+ years total industry experience, 4+ in manufacturing of systems/products/solutions for the medical, aerospace or automotive industries. Relevant experience in Quality / Manufacturing / Industrial / Supply Chain Engineering
2+ years in the Aerospace domain preferred (required for auditing, supplier development roles)
Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes for aerospace or similar parts.
Strong hands-on project management and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to consistently establish and meet aggressive timelines.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive cross-functional and cross-organizational relationships on a regional scale.
Proven track record of developing suppliers & being part of a wider development team.
Tenacity to getting things done and not accepting the norm, being adaptable to changing situations.
Effective communicator required. Work effectively with regional, cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience in a regulated environment, aerospace preferred.
Knowledgeable in SAP Quality Management, Oracle Data Warehouse, Mini-Tab, and MS Excel (power user).
Fluent in English/Spanish preferred but not required

Collecting data for the ZDP tracker ensuring compliance to ZDP tasks:
8D / QIM; Escape Analysis; Containment actions/Quality Control; Read across: Containment; Best practice review; Proactive Analysis; Read across: Proactive; Validate Effectiveness; Monitor and Update; Process control
Identify potential quality issues based on circumstantial evidence and recommend improvements.
Represent quality organization across entire product life cycle.
BS degree in Engineering or Technical field. Other degrees may be considered based on additional relevant experience.
Quality related Certifications preferred
Six Sigma Green Belt certified required / Black Belt certified preferred
Strong APQP knowledge and experience with all aspects of supplier quality management: quality concepts/tools/methods (e.g. UPPAP, ProCertFMEA, DOE, IQ/OQ/PQ, MSA, GRR, 8D, etc.), quality issue resolution and quality monitoring measures (use of statistical process control methodologies (CPk/PPk and data analysis is essential)Use of Lean methodologies and Six Sigma tools
Measurement and/or Inspection experience (MSA, Gage R&R, Calibration)
History of identifying and resolving quality and delivery issues, including part containment, risk assessment, utilization of formal quality RC-CA tools and processes, MRB/CAB
Capability to verify parts and processes (1st piece, control builds, material certs, FAI)
Auditing / Assessing to Customer requirements and Industry specifications (AS9100, AS9110, ISO9001, ASQR01, ASQR02, etc.)
Ability to read/interpret drawings including understanding of GD&T
Involvement with Process Flow, Control Plans, PFMEA, Work Instructions, Capability studies, Capacity evaluations, Production readiness reviews
Materials selection and process considerations
Familiarity (breadth and depth) of modern high tech manufacturing processes
Knowledge of Tool / Fixture / Gage Design and part handling/transfer
Interaction with MRP systems (Oracle/SAP/CAPP/Solumina)
Product Design (fit /function)
Proficiency using MS Office suite
