Quest Global Engineering
Windsor, CT
  • Expired: over a month ago. Applications are no longer accepted.
Job Description

Would you jump at the chance to work with cutting edge technology in the aerospace field with the support network of experienced leadership behind you?  Have you been waiting for a chance to apply your engineering know-how to come up with innovative solutions to engineering problems?  If you are fatigued with bureaucracy, and monotonous keystrokes, come and be part of our structures team.

Who is QuEST?
Our goal is to become the most recognized and trusted global engineering partner for our customers—Fortune 500 companies in the Aerospace, Medical Devices, Oil & Gas, Power, and Transportation industries. We know we can find solutions to their most important technical and business challenges they encounter. We aren’t consultants. We help them make their products the most competitive in the world and that’s how we’ve grown to over 11,000 problem solvers from 50 centers around the world. We aspire to be a 100-year company, which doesn’t mean staid and boring, but rather, we evolve and adapt to create the frontier of the engineering services industry.

The Team
The Structures Engineering Team is a growing team with ambition and excitement.  We work with one of the leading Aerospace companies doing structural analysis and coming up with new innovative ideas to improve upon our customer’s products.  Experienced managers will be supporting you and the team to manage the work and deliverables.  You will have help, but this is a place to innovate. You will have new customers, and are encouraged to design new solutions to structural engineering challenges.  You are empowered to make decisions, but with support from your leadership when you need it.

The Role
The successful candidate is expected to evaluate, implement and create new structural design solutions for our customer’s current hardware.  In most cases you will work to develop procedures and analysis plans for different types of serviceable and repairable limits.  You will present your findings, document all your work and make recommendations to our Aerospace customer through our customer’s standard Structural Analysis Memo document.  It will be your responsibility to guide and train less experienced engineers in order to help our organization grow in proficiency. Providing in-person support in the office for these engineers is greatly preferred. In addition, you will be the face of QuEST to your customers. Listen to customer’s problems, and build on the experiences you have personally had, then develop innovative ways to solve their engineering problems.

Our Culture
We just crossed the 21-year mark, and despite remarkable growth, we have maintained a culture of empowerment at all levels—what we call intrapreneurial. You will be part of the decision making to drive continuous improvements so we can stay happy and healthy as a business in a challenging industry. Not everyone is a great fit. We will throw you into the deep end (with lots of support), but if you want to swim, you have much opportunity. We’re not a place where laziness, ego, or rigid thinking fit in, and that’s intentional. You can do more at this company than you can in twice the time anywhere else. We accelerate success; you control the throttle and hold the yoke.

Job Functions

  • Use Finite Element Analysis tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, and PATRAN to conduct 3D and 2D static, dynamic, vibration, and thermal analyses
  • Provide in-person support to less experienced engineers through training, daily guidance, and technical reviews
  • Work in a fast-paced, team environment to meet quick deadlines
  • Learn, understand, and apply our customer’s standard procedures
  • Support quotation efforts with accurate estimates of structures time required to complete tasks
  • Develop procedures and analysis plans for different types of serviceable and  repairable limits
  • Create Structural Analysis Memos which includes documenting all work, presenting findings to our customers, and making recommendations.
  • Review the work of other analysts using standards and specifications as criteria.
  • Make technical recommendations based on engineering judgment and interpretation of analysis results.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement and take ownership for implementation

Qualifications
We’re excited to talk to you if:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience of structural analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with FEA, i.e ANSYS or Abaqus
  • Experience or academic background with mechanics of materials, vibrations, metal fatigue, finite element analysis and fractures mechanics
  • Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment
  • Enjoy people and dynamic teams with diverse experiences. We have fun together!
  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be a US Citizen
