Design, document, and build all made-in-house and vendor parts for cabinets, poly/acrylic, bulkheads, upholstery and flooring. Facilitate assembly and construction of made-in-house parts pre-production models.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the design, documentation and construction of all made-in-house parts based on the specification for new models, including wood, celtec, poly, acrylic and other materials.
Responsible for the design, documentation and specification of all vendor parts for cabins / interiors, including the bulkheads, galley, cabinets, v-berth, head unit, sleeping arrangements, and seating arrangements.
Evaluate, test and develop working mock-ups of fabricated components and interiors as necessary to validate layout, operation, installation and quality.
Develop detailed fabrication models, drawings and specifications to facilitate the construction, assembly, or sourcing of parts.
Create construction and installation drawings to support and document the construction of fabricated components.
Responsible for providing direction to the Product Launch Team and installing fabricated components in accordance with department schedule and key milestones.
Provide training on installation procedures and methods to launch or production associates as necessary to ensure the proper installation of components.
Develop the in-house parts BOM for new models and maintain the in-house parts BOM for existing models.
Support the development of the cost model for areas of responsibility.
Validate, audit and revise mill shop production files as necessary to support production.
Participate in resolution of ECN and CAR issues for production.
Maintain department schedule to meet key milestones.
Preferred 3 years experience in design & modeling in the marine field.
Preferred experience with CNC operated machinery including writing tool paths, operation and trouble shooting.
Must be proficient in 3D drawing and CAD software including Rhino, AutoCAD, or similar software packages.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and present ideas to management team and peers
Must be proficient in providing direction to shop personnel to troubleshoot manufacturing issues in production area.

Must be proficient in the use of computers and use of company-wide software programs: Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Willing to perform other tasks as necessary.
