Position Overview:

The Mechanical Development Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of our fuel and air systems while providing technical and analytical support throughout the project lifecycle.  Works to improve the performance and efficiency of existing and new products.

Here is a glimpse of what you will do:

 

  • Mentors and is engaged in the personal development of the engineering team to ensure ongoing growth of technical organizational and management skills
  • Performs root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Develop and coordinate the validation testing for new product launches
  • Participate in DFMEA & DVP&R processes and make sure tests that are identified as recommended actions are incorporated
  • Oversees the development of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies
  • Use vehicle-based instrumentation to gather on-vehicle data
  • Work closely with suppliers to determine parameter changes
  • According to validation/measurement results, define necessary product improvements to meet the specifications
  • Define the product improvements to meet the specifications
  • Interfacing with internal and external clients to deliver updates, design recommendations and analysis results
  • Preparation of detailed technical presentations for both internal and client project engineering review 
  • Undertaking special projects as required
  • Provide engineering support and drive cost reduction of existing products
  • Investigate the scope and risks associated with potential new product to assist in development of a business case
  • Ensure all products meet industry standards and guidelines for functionality
  • Analyzes technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
  • Provides strategies and guidance regarding technical concepts

 

Here is some of what you will need (required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or other technical field) with 15 years of experience in an automotive or off-highway precision manufacturing technology organization 
  • Experience with delivering results and implementing projects simultaneously for multiple product lines and departments
  • Strong controls background
  • Manage Bill of Materials and release product drawings
  • Reliability software such as: Weibull ++ / Minitab software
  • Experience with developing validation requirements for products
  • Experience with delivering results and implementing projects simultaneously for multiple product lines and departments
  • Automotive Engineering experience in launching OE or Remanufactured Components 
  • Hands-on technical engineering 
  • Experience leading new innovations
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to review technical information and make recommendations to drive positive solutions
  • Strong experience in project management preferred
  • Ability to focus on several projects with aggressive deadlines

Here are skills and abilities we would like for you to have (preferred):

  • Knowledge of DVP&R, and DFMEA tools
  • Knowledge of APQP/Launch processes
  • 3D CAD modeling and Drawing, experience with PTC CREO and Team Center
  • Computer literate; working Knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Products
