Sales Development Manager – Genomic Services

As a key member of the commercial team, the Sales Development Manager will promote Psomagen’s clinical and research services businesses to acquire new customers and nurture them to become longstanding accounts. This role will work cross-functionally with Sales Operations, Product Management, and Laboratory Operations to develop and execute a sales plan to drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the molecular diagnostics, NGS (next-generation sequencing), and proteomics markets, as well as associated lab technologies and applications. This role will be expected to develop and implement successful strategies and tactics to sell complex omics-based services within this highly competitive marketplace.

This position is on-site in Psomagen’s Headquarters, Rockville, MD.

Responsibilities
  • Drive sales of Psomagen’s genomic services to new customers within the designated territory
  • Effectively discover, qualify and close new sales opportunities in new accounts
  • Successfully use verbal and written communication to nurture sales leads and close sales
  • Use a broad range of market research methods and tools to uncover and qualify potential customers
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills
  • Partner with other Field Sales team members and internal stakeholders to maximize the customer experience
  • Must be able to build & maintain relationships with customer accounts (Academics, Biotech, CROs, and pharma clients) at a high level and to develop business relationships with leaders of business partner groups
  • Develops and maintains a sales pipeline within Psomagen’s CRM
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive CRM database of all customers within the territory and look for trends in usage/applications and identify how additional sales based on this information can leverage
  • Negotiates all ‘omics sales in territory and generates associated sales contracts and quotations
  • Promptly follow-up on any sales leads by making direct contact with prospects and commencing screening
  • Maintain profit margins through effective sales negotiation
  • Close high-quality sales deals to meet sales targets
  • Ensure that customers are fully satisfied with the transactions
  • Provides regular and accurate sales forecast updates
  • Actively promote ‘omics-based services catered to research and clinical applications
  • Be a conduit between the company and the customers to bring back feedback to more effectively address customer needs
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science or Biology-related majors
  • 2+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing of molecular biology products is essential
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of the life sciences market, especially the sequencing services market
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels within and outside the company
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Driven to achieve on revenue goals and objectives
  • Travel within the territory as needed to meet with clients
  • Occasional overnight travel including attending conferences and business meetings

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in selling genetic sequencing services or related laboratory services
  • Strong understanding of laboratory developed tests (LTDs)
