Configuration Management Specialist

We are adding a motivated and experienced Configuration Management (CM) Specialist to ensure requirements, development and operational information remain consistent and controlled throughout the product's lifecycle. The successful candidate will work with our team to warrant engineering changes are properly evaluated, authorized, and implemented. Further, he/she will ensure all information/data necessary to manage our end item data packages and other related work products are properly recorded and archived. This individual will join our on-site team in Hampton, VA.


Job Description

  • Document and review CM findings and coordinate corrective actions
  • Monitor standards compliance, as well as change and release implementation
  • Develop/implement overarching CM procedures, responsibilities, authorities, and approves plans
  • Coordinate release of drawings, specifications, Statements of Work (SOW), and change requests
  • Track provider requests for Engineering Approval, Non-Conformance Reports, Requests for Deviation, etc.
  • Participate in Materials Review Board (MRB) and lead Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update the Configuration Management Plan (CMP)
  • Manage Configuration Identification activities (product and documentation identification, naming, markings, serialization, etc.)
  • Manage Configuration Status Accounting (control as-designed, as-designed, as delivered and as-modified engineering work products)
  • Support configuration verification and audits (participating in Physical/Functional Configuration Audits)
  • Establish and manage system baselines: Functional, Allocated and Product
  • Prepare directives for change authorization and documentation
  • Support process definition, improvement, and development of standard CM operating procedures
  • Coordinate activities of personnel preparing manual or automated records of part-design change documents and first-article configuration inspection
  • Properly record activities, communications, and timelines to ensure compliance and timely delivery
  • Provide or participate in communications with team members and customers on a regular basis
  • Participate in change processing through both Baseline and Post-Baseline Design processes

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Business Management degree
  • Minimum of 4- 5 years of experience
  • Knowledge and real-world experience with the systems engineering process
  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-61B
  • Proficient with word processing software; MS Solutions; Technical writing, maintain document trees
  • Demonstrated, effective communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize work and maintain a document database
