Fraud Compliance Specialist

In this newly created role, reporting to the Risk Manager, the Fraud Compliance Specialist will be the liaison between the branches, members, and the Risk Management Department. This role will be responsible for helping members who are victims of fraud, tracking fraud amounts, and understanding fraud trends and provide recommendations to mitigate fraud. This role will also complete monthly, quarterly, or yearly audits to ensure policies and procedures are being upheld by all employees.

The Fraud Compliance Specialist will act as an advocate for our members who are victims of fraudulent activity and serve as a resource to internal and external members for both fraud and compliance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Fraud - 53%

The Fraud Compliance Specialist will work with internal departments to conduct fraud investigations, obtain videos, calling members to discuss fraud activity, monitor reports for fraud, document conversations, work with local police departments and work with the multiple systems. This role will file proper government reports and responses, along with following the dispute process.

Audit - 30%

This role is responsible for auditing a sample of the loan portfolio monthly to determine if the loans are following regulations and internal policy and procedures. Other auditing roles include account opening, business account opening, file maintenance reports and other auditing that occurs monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Scheduling external audits for the year per the audit plan. This role is responsible to document and report all findings to the Risk Manager by using audit software.

Education - 10%

The Fraud Compliance Specialist will stay abreast of current fraudulent trends by attending webinars and other educational resources to share with employees and members of the Credit Union.

Compliance - 7%

The Fraud Compliance Specialist will understand basic Credit Union compliance driven by the NCUA and other governing agencies.

Other Duties:

Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in addition to all company policies.
