Position Title: Maintenance & Repair Specialist
General Description:
The Maintenance & Repair Specialist is responsible for maintaining Prologue’s properties in Baltimore and Carroll Counties. The Maintenance & Repair Specialist must be willing to take on a variety of tasks including minor plumbing repairs, minor carpentry, handyman repairs, and drywall repairs. Other work includes lawn work, carrying equipment, moving furniture and residents’ belongings, disposing of furniture and trash, pressure washing and painting. The specialist will be responsible for cleaning up work spaces, transporting equipment and tools and assisting others as needed. Knowledge of and skills in performing basic plumbing, electrical, drywall, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment repairs and painting required. Staff must be available to work on-call for emergency repairs in the residences. Schedule: Full time. This person reports to the Facilities and Fleet Administrator.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skill Abilities to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Person must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred. A valid Driver’s License with 2 or less points and ability to drive a pick-up truck are required. Ability and willingness to perform diverse maintenance and repair tasks is required. This position requires engaging in physical labor, lifting and carrying heavy equipment such as ladders and crawling in tight spaces to make plumbing repairs. The ability to engage in fine motor skills is also required such as resetting locks. The successful employee will display initiative in performing tasks to maintain a safe and healthy environment at all Prologue facilities and residential sites, will respond affirmatively to supervisor’s requests, display initiative in learning new skills and clean up at the work site. The employee has the duty to assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment at all Prologue facilities and residential sites. The ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and document completion of the tasks is required. Ability to understand and respect individuals recovering from mental illness and any limitations of persons served is required. Must have reliable transportation.
Summary Essential Functions and Physical Requirements:
  • Maintain safe conditions by cleaning up work sites during and after performance of repairs
  • Conduct regular maintenance and respond in a timely manner to emergency requests, repairing interior and exterior of Prologue facilities and residential sites on a routine basis
  • Move furniture, belongings, and dispose of trash
  • Perform outdoor tasks: raking, mulching, cleaning gutters
  • Paint interior, minor exterior surfaces and repair drywall
  • Complete Handyman repairs, minor carpentry, plumbing, HVAC problems
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hand, finger, eye coordination, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
  • Drive vehicle to Prologue locations in Baltimore and Carroll Counties, and Home Improvement stores as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisors
