We are seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor with CASAC or CASAC-T to join our team! You will be responsible for implementing effective treatment plans for clients in an individual and group setting.
Work Schedule: Full time, Tuesday, & Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. & Saturday, 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
The Substance Abuse Counselor will conduct services within our Recovery Program as well as off-site as needed and as allowed by OASAS regulations. The Counselor will meet with clients individually and in group settings as required.
Conducting groups for clients who are maintaining abstinence, discussing wellness activities, health education, stress reduction, issues of life priorities and addiction awareness. Other groups to be assigned as directed by the Program Director.
Conducting detailed alcohol and drug assessments. Determining immediate and long term service needs for the development of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Conducting intake assessments which include entering all screening, assessment and intake data into AWARDS system and accompanying progress notes within 24 hours of date services are rendered.
Conducting individual sessions, as required, according to the client’s treatment plan and enter progress notes into AWARDS within 24 hours of date session is conducted.
Preparing intake assessments, screening results, progress notes and sign-in sheets for services rendered each day and for remittance of payments.
Invoicing for services rendered and submit weekly with required client service documentation.
HSD/GED and CASAC or CASAC-T required Bachelors Degree preferred.
An understanding of the pharmacological dimensions of addiction and substance abuse.
Theoretical knowledge of a client’s psychological and physical needs and an understanding of group work practices and principles needed.
Knowledge of the statutory benefits and support services available in NYS is needed.
Knowledge of OASAS 822 outpatient program a plus.
Must have exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups regarding complex and sensitive issues.
