The primary responsibility for this role is to serve as a Program Management and Portfolio leader in the Portfolio Management Office. This role reports to the Sr. Director of PMO and is to assist with the establishment and growth of a professional and capable PMO. In addition, this role will assist to mature enterprise with regard to its capability to professionally and successfully execute strategic projects.
Essential Functions
Day-to-day you will:
Lead the delivery of high-quality projects/programs, through active risk management
Ensure clear communication and transparency by keeping key stakeholders informed
Validate requirements, milestones, deliverables, resources and success measures.
Collaborate with project team and senior leadership on key decisions for project success.
Manage overall project/program risks, critical project plans, commitment, and changes.
Oversee and lead development, implementation, and maintenance of the Project Work Plan, including approval schedule, effort, and cost at completion.
Manage accurate development and traceability of requirements during project lifecycle.
Ensure organizational readiness activities are planned to ensure successful adoption.
Overseeing Portfolio Planning & Program Governance:
Work closely with the Director of PMO to manage initiative intake/evaluation, Portfolio Roadmap development, funding allocation decisions between Portfolios, and tracking for benefits realization.
Partner with executive and senior leaders to set priorities and ensure transparency and clarity on prioritization decisions.
Ensures adoption and implementation of project and program management methodology and oversees project and program management coaching, including waterfall and Agile.
Support the Director with the leadership of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO):
Align and monitor key projects against strategic business plan, committed results and objectives, and benefit realization targets.
Oversee and manage an effective governance structure across all programs.
Sponsor consistent deployment of program management discipline across the portfolio.
Champion the change required to deploy new and innovative program management skillsets, product-focused mindset, and agile and PMP methods.
Provide performance monitoring and benefit realization for all key programs
What we’re looking for
Bachelor’s degree is required and MBA or other advanced degree desirable.
Minimum of 8 years professional experience required.
Maintain an active PMP certification.
Experience with partnering on cross-functional projects or teams.
Experience with managing programs with multiple cross-functional teams.
Excellent business acumen, thought leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Must be a quick learner, and connector of people and ideas, able to lead large cross- functional programs, as well as deeply organized, highly motivated, and adaptable in fast paced, high growth environment.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, utilize excellent active listening skills and collaborate across divisions, functions, cultures, and levels internally and externally.
Ability to influence across cross-functional teams of all levels, including executive audiences.
Ability to keep multiple priorities moving at the same time and provide objective decision support to key stakeholders.
Ability to gather, analyze, interpret a wide range of data to a wide variety of audiences.
Even better if you have
Six Sigma, CSP or CSM certification.
Proficiency in agile delivery with tools such as Jira & Confluence a plus.
Solution-driven focus; demonstrated ability to lead project discovery and project development.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to drive projects forward and adopt new processes and projects.
Clear and strong communication skills, i.e., verbal, written, and listening.
