We are seeking an Analyst for Build-to-Rent (BTR) Property Investments to join Progress Residential. This position will report to the Vice President and Director of Build-to-Rent and is fully remote. Working closely with other members of the BTR team, the candidate will identify, prioritize, underwrite, and prepare investment committee materials for portfolios of newly built and to-be-constructed single-family residential homes.
The BTR team at Progress Residential is closely integrated with its New York-based investment management firm. As a member of this team, you will play an integral role in shaping this new and exciting asset class within single family residential acquisitions, and will have an opportunity to underwrite large transactions, prepare and present investment committee materials, and gain exposure to best practices in private equity real estate investment.
Participate in all aspects of screening and executing potential BTR investments, including financial modeling, due diligence, bids and legal negotiations
Assist in the management of existing property investments by working with internal operating teams and industry consultants
Build and manipulate Excel models to evaluate and support a wide range of transactions, structures, and scenarios
Prepare presentations and marketing materials for internal (e.g., senior leadership and investment committees) and external (e.g., institutional capital providers and investment partners) stakeholders
Keep apprised of the real estate market, specifically the BTR and broader residential rental category, and analyze market data to prepare detailed reports for senior management
Prepare ad hoc analyses to drive strategic initiatives
Collaborate with team members to enhance project management, ensuring BTR projects meet all critical timelines.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
Must have at least 1 year of experience in investment management, investment banking, consulting, or research in commercial real estate, or other industry characterized as high growth or newly-emerging
Above average technical aptitude in Microsoft Excel, industry research, and Microsoft PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to produce work product proactively on both independent projects and collaborative initiatives

Personal interest in the real estate industry (e.g., home construction, SFR housing sector, etc.)
