You will lead the day-to-day activities of a hardware / firmware engineering project team and represent the team on larger cross-functional program teams, all of which are focused on delivering new products or upgrading existing products. You will be responsible for NPI projects from initiation through release to manufacturing as well as supporting current products in maintenance. Duties include: Assist in the analysis of product and technical requirements and the definition of project scope and objectives involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring the technical feasibility of requirements.
Work with your development team and relevant stakeholders to develop estimates for completion of requirements based on the best available information, intelligent assumptions, and identification of risks and dependencies. Develop detailed project plans to meet the objectives for scope, schedule, quality, and cost. Lead the day-to-day project activities to ensure that deliverables are completed on-time, within scope and budget.
Identify and solve problems that are blocking the team and the project. Facilitate meetings and other communications with team members and stakeholders as necessary to keep projects on track. Assist in risk assessment and management activities throughout the project.
Represent the development team as a core member of program teams. Measure and report project performance to other project and program stakeholders and to engineering management. Follow the recommended Product Lifecycle (PLC) management processes and ensure the development team meets their milestones and completes the required PLC deliverables through each stage of the project.
Experience: This position requires a minimum of 2 years related experience. Relevant experience: Must have hands-on experience with new product introduction (NPI) and support of electronic hardware and firmware products. Should have some working familiarity with various design and development domains including electronics, PCBs, firmware development and release processes, mechanical design and fabrication, PCA and unit manufacturing, hardware and firmware test, engineering and product documentation, etc.
Must have experience planning complex projects and leading development teams. Must be able to work in cross-functional project and program teams involving multiple engineering disciplines, often in different locations. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have solid organizational skills including time management and priority adjustment. Must be able to prioritize and divide your time among several different projects and activities. Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 online applications including Microsoft Project.
Should have experience with various engineering design tools, document repositories, bug tracking systems, etc. Experience developing and supporting RF products, networking products, or portable, battery-powered devices is a plus. Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
