Warehouse Receiver - Day Shift

Position Summary: The Warehouse Receiver's function is to oversee the receiving area, receive, inspect, identify, count and verify quality and labeling of all materials and supplies delivered to the facility, as well as complete related documentation, coordinate the storage of supplies and enter information into inventory database and other similar duties necessary to the movement and maintenance of supplies and raw materials. 

 Essential Functions:  

  • Reviews work schedule, performs safety checks on equipment, obtains supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations 
  • Inspects incoming product at the loading dock to ensure goods meet the company quality standards 
  • Receives incoming products and supplies and verify items on receiving schedule against the bill of lading 
  • Ensures account accuracy, record counts on appropriate forms/database and verify quality and labeling of all materials and supplies 
  • Performs damage control checks on items received and contact supervisor about removing items according to company procedure 
  • Inspects data sensitive items, perform temperature checks and quality checks on products and take appropriate action as necessary 
  • Inspects shrink-wrap and secures, re-stack items on pallets as needed  
  • Maintains the inventory accuracy of all materials and perform counts when discrepancies are found.   
  • Coordinates and/or unload and transport items to staging areas in appropriate warehouse  
  • Rotates and/or replenishes inventory following proper FIFO (first in, first out) procedures  
  • Safely and efficiently operates power material handling equipment (such as forklift or pallet jack) to accurately receive, warehouse, inventory  
  • Remove lift equipment batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries and complete vehicle inspection checklist 
  • At the end of the shift and prior to clocking out, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork and/or data entry  
  • Interacts with all team members with courtesy and professionalism 
  • Adheres to all Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements 
  • Adheres to attendance standards - reports to work on time, works the entire scheduled shift, and follows proper call-out procedures
  • Works in a safe manner, reports all accidents and incidents immediately, follows all safety rules and regulations according to company and governmental standards, and attends safety meetings and trainings  
  • Performs general housekeeping duties 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  Skills & Experience:  

  • Must be at least 18 years of age w/High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Must have USDA Quality Check Certification (or achieve within 30 days of hire) 
  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required 
  • Must be able to operate a fork lift truck, a reach truck, a pallet jack, and/or other product movement equipment 
  • Must be able to use a Warehouse Management System scanning device and touch pad systems High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment 
  • Previous experience using RF scanner gun and touch pad preferred 
  • Must have previous Lift Equipment experience and certification per OSHA standards  
  • Must be able to work complete assigned shift as scheduled...days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays

In the performance of this position, the associate will regularly drive a standup powered industrial vehicle, climb, reach, push/pull, grab, twist, speak/talk, see, read, listen, hear, have a good sense of balance, have good eye-hand-foot coordination, ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights, regularly lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time.

In the Warehouse temperatures vary from department to department and will also fluctuate seasonally. Examples range from 34-degrees (refrigerated cutting areas) up through whatever the current outdoor temperature. Employee might have occasion to access the freezer section as well. Layering of clothing in these areas is required. Some areas of the warehouse are wet due to the nature of the business. Primary PPE is ANSI approved steel-toed, slip resistant shoes.
