Position: Systems Engineer II with Embedded Programming Emphasis

Systems Engineer II position will be responsible for helping drive the architecture, documentation, and testing of a large, complex system embracing electro-mechanical, thermodynamic, cryogenic, and sensing and controls disciplines. This position will be critical to ensuring ProNova develops and delivers state-of-the-art technology with innovations that address our customer’s needs and completes this development on schedule. Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams is required. Experience in the medical device industry is desirable. Relevant experience with proton therapy systems, superconducting magnets, particle accelerators, beam lines and/or beam diagnostics is desirable.
Leads the following design, risk assessment, and verification and validation activities:
System level design reviews
System level risk assessments
System integration test development and execution
V&V test plan development
V&V test protocol development and execution
Ensures documentation meets requirements for design control
Develops embedded software/firmware applications:
Develops new/modified code to meet requirements
Develops bench and integration test protocols and executes tests
Creates software design specifications
Performs risk/impact assessment for code changes
Participates in code reviews
Supports Proton Therapy System operation by assisting with troubleshooting and by performing risk assessments for repair and maintenance activities.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
BS in an engineering or applied physics discipline required, MS desired
5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
2+ years of experience in leadership of technical teams
2+ years of experience defining test plans and coordinating executing and documentation of V&V testing
2+ years of experience working in medical device development under ISO 13485
Knowledge of real-time system design principles, industrial control techniques, and sensing technologies.
Experience developing solutions using LabView development and National Instruments hardware.
Experience with FPGA programming using LabView and VHDL, particularly targeting Xilinx hardware.
Comfortable with general electrical troubleshooting tools and methods including oscilloscope usage.
Familiarity with standard industrial communications protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, RS485, Modbus, JSON)
