Line Cook

We are looking for a Line Cook to assist our Chef in our residential treatment facility, a beautiful country estate located in Ennis, TX

Assist with coordinating the work responsibilities of the kitchen.

  • Proper storage of kitchen equipment and lifting heavy pots
  • Has understanding of safe food-handling techniques
  • Addressing patient allergies, dietary restrictions and needs (celiac, diabetes,etc.)
  • Working with purchasing to ensure that the kitchen is always properly stocked for patient needs/ maintain inventory of food supplies
  • Ensure that all merchant invoices are properly allocated and submitted for payment
  • Adheres to facility confidentiality, HIPAA and patient rights policies of facility
  • Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and Organization and department sanitation policies
  • Preparing and storing food correctly
  • Strong understanding of nutrition
  • Planning fresh and nutritional meals and menus
  • Keeping stations cleaned and organized
  • Following and creating recipes
  • Maintaining excellent hygiene
  • Can explain the causes of food borne illnesses and infections, their characteristics, and the most commonly infected items
  • Maintains a practice of handling clean and sanitized equipment and utensils to protect them from contamination
  • Ensures process for maintaining food at the proper temperature at all times during freezing, thawing, preparation, holding, and serving
  • Communicates effectively with all team members, patients and families through conferences, individual consultation and committee participation. This includes telephone, written, and electronic communication
  • Has firm understanding of infection control precautions
  • Demonstrates an understanding of food temperature/time controls

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or culinary degree
  • At least 1 year food service cooking experience
  • Experience cooking in a medical facility preferred but not required
  • Willingness to work hard and operate in a team structure
  • Knowledge of how to use a wide variety of kitchen equipment
  • Ability to certify as a food manager within the first 90 days of employment
  • Ability to commute to Ennis, TX
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Ability to properly identify essential kitchen supplies

Shift: 6:00 am - 4:00 pm, 5 days per week including weekends
