General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for all tasks that are required to operate a best in class DC. This is a multishift, high volume and complex SKU environment.
This position is responsible for fostering a team environment that focuses on serving the customer, and keeping a clean, organized and safe work environment. The General Manager works closely with their direct team, external customers and corporate support personnel. Ultimately, this position ensures that productivity and profitability targets are achieved and that all distribution center functions are running smoothly and promptly.
Responsibilities
Direct daily operations including workflow scheduling in the following ways:
- Monitoring of productivity and quality
- Process trouble-shooting
- Other activities required to ensure safety, inventory accuracy, on-time shipments and exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Oversee all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping and managing returned/damaged goods, maintenance and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Maintain customer contacts and develop relationships that are built out of trust.
- Develop, Document, Implement and Maintain rigorous standard operating procedures for proper receipt, storage, handling, and shipment of each customer-s inventory.
- Ensure that inventory is 100% accurate and organized at all times with detailed location-based records verified via daily cycle counts.
- Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
Hire, retain and develop a quality staff in the following ways:
- Providing opportunities for advancement and organizational growth.
- Plan and manage the daily workload and staffing; Perform ongoing analyses to adjust staffing needs to match work flow and volume projections.
- Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in work flow while meeting budgetary and operational targets.
- Ensure the company's physical assets (building, material handling equipment, inventory, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized.
- Administer preventative maintenance cycles and equipment repair needs
- Manage and administer distribution center budget with full P&L responsibility.
- Ensure all records and reports regarding distribution center activity are prepared on a timely basis and effectively maintained.
- Create, maintain and communicate metrics and standards in accordance with facility and corporate goals.
- Create sustainable and innovative processes that will produce high quality results and continuously improve the overall operations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of supply chain experience, including distribution center, inventory and transportation in a fast paced, high volume facility.
- 5+ years of management experience leading a large team of both W-2 and temp labor associates (ideally 30+ associates).
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with WMS, TMS and ERP systems.
- Experience with Cost Center management with past P&L responsibilities.
- Experience and/or formal training related to Lean methodology or Six Sigma related activities a plus.
- - Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
