We are seeking an enthusiastic, mid-year level candidate with automotive knowledge or a comparable background to serve as an Automotive Technical Specialist to provide support under the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in Washington, DC. The Office of Enforcement regulates passenger automobiles and equipment with the goal to minimize vehicle fatalities and injuries while keeping our highways safe and you will be a part of an important of this mission.You will support and assist NHTSA’s defects and compliance program offices.
It is highly preferred that the ideal candidate for this position will have an understanding of automotive recall processes. You should be able to work in an efficient, high-producing, and professional team-oriented environment. In addition, having a keen eye for detail is important in order to complete tasks without oversight.If you possess a strong desire to contribute your knowledge and skills in the automotive industry, then we encourage you to apply for this incredible opportunity.Responsibilities:As an Automotive Technical Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:Reporting on serious incidents on a weekly basis.Responding to, resolving, and tracking Recall Manufacturer Portal (RAMP) Help Desk Issues.Categorizing Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) as received.Verifying all Category 1 Bulletins are valid remedies and reporting weekly to the client.Downloading and sweeping all Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) from the Recall Manufacturer Portal (RAMP).Accurately dispositioning consumer complaints within the Recall Management Division.Reviewing manufacturer submissions and creating Safety Recall Reports for publishing to the general public.In addition, to other duties as assigned.Our ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:Experience: 2-3 years of work experience within the Federal government as a client, is preferred.Education: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, information systems, or another technical discipline is preferred.Skills : Must be an excellent writer, someone who has the ability to communicate in a clear, concise and compelling way.Strong computer skills are required.Working knowledge of the automotive industry with a focus on vehicle safety is preferred.Must posses strong attention to detail.A robust desire to learn and continue to grow professionally is a must.You should have the ability to work in a team environment.Clearance:Possessing an active Public Trust Clearance is preferred.Must be willing to undergo a background check.Temporary remote work:Currently this position is eligible for temporary remote work due to COVID-19.Company Benefits:Paid Time Off (PTO) for employees10 Paid Federal HolidaysMedical, dental, and vision benefitsLife/AD, short-term and long-term disability insurances401(k) options with employer matchProfessional development opportunitiesTuition reimbursement benefits availablePre-tax commuter benefit
