Equipment Engineering Technician

Princeton NuEnergy ("PNE") is an innovative clean-tech startup company spun out from Princeton University in 2019. PNE is focused on the direct recycling and second-life application of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) from electric vehicles (EVs). Currently, PNE has partnered with a Fortune 500 company to commercialize its unique technology by bringing it to the mass production level in order to ultimately deliver sustainable and clean energy solutions to our society.
PNE is seeking a hands-on Equipment Engineering Technician to support our Engineering team in pilot scale production operations at our facility. The ideal candidate will have knowledge about automated chemical processing equipment development, installation, operation, troubleshooting, and improvement of manufacturing processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and own the implementation of semi- and fully- automated manufacturing equipment
- Support installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control box and hardware equipment
- Assist with operation of equipment for engineering trials and deliveries
- Provide on-floor feedback for engineering team to ensure design safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Work closely with engineering team to meet equipment requirements and make improvements to existing systems
- Systematically apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software components to identify and solve problems
- Bridge the gap between pilot line engineering and PLC supplier
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Hands-on experience of Equipment Design Engineer, Mechanical/Electrical Engineer or similar experience, prior experiences with chemical production devices is a plus
- Experience with design, assembly and/or maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment
- Experience using PLC, and device configuration software
- Able to work under minimum supervision, and solve problem independently with a desire to learn new skills and develop new technology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
