Implement service and renew small group, Mid-Market and Simplicity self-funded and fully-insured accounts. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal departments, accounts and the brokerage community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement self-funded accounts by completing the detailed Master Application and coordinating with the account and operational set-up to ensure a smooth transition. Responsible for the development of the Summary Plan Description (SPD) from draft form to final document to ensure accuracy of all Plan provisions and compliance with state and federal laws.
Implement fully-insured Small Group, Mid-Market and Simplicity accounts and ensure a smooth transition. Responsible for delivery of an accurate COC or SPD.
Conduct enrollment meetings as requested.
Act as the frontline person for assigned block of business. Interface with underwriting, finance, medical management, network management, IS and operations to ensure a high level of ongoing service and to resolve issues and problems that may arise. Propose solutions to prevent or minimize recurrences.
Responsible for renewal negotiations and retention of accounts.
Manage the renewal process with internal departments, broker, reinsurer and account. Offer recommendations as to what best fits the needs of the account as it pertains to reinsurance and benefit plan provisions.
Become well versed in the ancillary lines PreferredOne has to offer such as dental, flex, COBRA, HSAs, and HRAs.
Participate in pre-sale presentations.
Keep abreast of state and federal laws as they affect COC’s, SPD’s and Preferred One’s policies and procedures.
Inform management of all issues that could have a potential adverse affect or financial impact on the organization.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum 2 years experience in marketing, account servicing, or underwriting of small group fully-insured and self-funded accounts.
In-depth understanding of the principles of fully-insured and self-funded products.
In-depth knowledge of state and federal laws and insurance statutes as they relate to group benefits.
Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent negotiation and personal relationship-building skills.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team.
Willing to be responsible for a high degree of accountability.
Must possess Life/Health Insurance License.
Occasional lifting, carrying and set-up of the marketing display (approximately 25
lbs.), provider directories and other marketing materials to various meetings.
Local and occasional long-distance travel.
Must be able to work on a computer for extended period of time.
Must be able to operate all office equipment including computer, copier, printers, fax machine and phone.
