Predicine is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Director to lead the Infectious Disease group. Reporting to the CEO, Infectious Disease you will lead the US based Infectious Disease team, performing high complexity testing in the Clinical laboratory under the direction of the Clinical Operations Manager.

  • Contributing/Leading the infectious disease product development to create in-house to novel bacterial, microbial and viral infections for laboratory test development optimization, validation, and verification, using cell and molecular biology techniques such as: RNA and DNA Extraction, PCR and RT-PCR, Nucleic Acid Sequencing
  • Guide the establishment of new tools, assays, and relevant disease models
  • Contributing to the strategic direction for Predicines infectious diseases product pipeline
  • Supporting evaluation of external licensing opportunities
  • Follow the laboratorys procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintain records of patient test results.
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the titled Laboratory Director.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
  • Operate in accordance and compliance with all internal and external regulatory procedures.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate and up-to-date lab records.
  • Use appropriate laboratory safety procedures in performance of duties, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment per standard operating procedures.
  • Provide training, as directed, in the use of facility and equipment with relevant education, protocol development and proper use and maintenance of the laboratory space and equipment.
  • Maintain supplies and reagents to support an efficient and productive work environment and other duties as assigned.
  • Independently managing external collaborations with academic and industry partners
  • Contributing to scientific literature and conferences through publication and presentation of results

Education/Qualifications/Relevant Experience

  • A PhD with minimum 10 years of relevant experience in molecular biology, microbiology, or related field.
  • Experience with cutting edge molecular biology methods development required.
  • Industry experience in a field related to commercial assay development is highly desirable, including activities such as root-cause investigations, corrective actions, troubleshooting, and reagent-system interactions.
  • Understanding of methods for pathogen isolation from clinical samples
  • Commercial awareness of existing diagnostic instrumentation and/or state of the art technologies in a related field.
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a team environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
