The Opportunity

As a key member of our business development team, interacting with our technology team, you will help lead government, military, and related business development from new technology product creation through product development and into successful market entry. In addition, you will create and win new funding opportunities through both government (SBIR/STTR, BAA, etc.) and industrial (R&D contracts, JDA, license agreements, etc.) channels. You will have complete support from across the PCI team.

The Successful Applicant will

Be a business professional who will work closely with our technology leaders, top management, and other business development team members including the President, Vice President of Research & Engineering, and the Director of Marketing and Business Development. In this role, we will also look to you to strengthen and build current opportunities, as well as create new opportunities and paths for success. The candidate of choice will be a visionary who is comfortable working both strategically and tactically while demonstrating their combined initiative, vision, sales insight, commitment to excellence, with the drive, determination and will to win.

The successful candidate will be expected to utilize their prior business development success in selling early concepts through implemented solutions to the military to create new opportunities for PCI. We value and welcome diversified technology business development experience in additional areas such as: automotive, power generation, environmental, chemical processing, and aerospace. The successful candidate should have an engineering or science background, strong marketing skills, a passion for chemical/mechanical technology, along with experience and a proven track record of bringing new technologies to market. This position is based at our North Haven, CT facility which currently operates with masking, distancing, and other safety protocols. Proof of full vaccination is required upon start of employment.

What You Will Do

As the Business Development Manager, you will lead innovative product concept evolution, transition paths and market entry strategies. As a key member of our management team, you will develop strategies, tactical plans for carrying out strategies, make decisions to act supporting technology/product advance to successful market entry. The BDM will identify, develop, and win new business opportunities supporting our advancing technology and product development. In addition to developing new relationships with potential customers to help advance our opportunities, the BDM will continue to maintain and enhance existing relationships with all of PCI’s client base. You will also provide sales leadership for compelling proposals, winning R&D commercialization funding from government and prime contractor/industrial customers via creating and communicating win themes, obtaining written partner support, and writing compelling commercialization plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering/science is required; minor in marketing/business or an MBA is a plus.
• Experience selling and evolving military technology concepts before they become products, together with insights into military markets and applications required.
• Business development experience along with a successful track record in tech development for military applications, with experience in energy, power generation, environmental, chemicals processing, automotive, and/or aerospace is also helpful. Prior U.S. security clearance a plus.
• Technology business development experience in an industrial or university setting.
• Experience in negotiating and closing business agreements (NDA, MOUs, MOAs, JDA, contracts).
