Polar Power is currently seeking two Senior CAD/Mechanical Designers to work at our corporate headquarters in Gardena, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative individual who likes to design / create / engineer new products pertaining to Renewable energy, Generators, Control systems, Cooling systems. Our platform is Solidworks and designs encompass sheet metal enclosures, CNC machined parts, outside processes, and complete assemblies. The Senior Cad Designers will team with other engineers on developing new products. Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. There will be guidance from senior mechanical and electronic engineers. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Mechanical packaging of electronic printed circuit boards and controls into enclosures.
Design of enclosures for generators, refrigeration and cooling systems, and battery banks.
Coordinate activities with other departments including: production, purchasing, operations and marketing.
Production documentation (BOM) and 3D assembly drawings.
Check completed documentation, layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, accuracy of calculations, and geometric tolerance and dimensioning.
Participate in design reviews as needed.
Write engineering change orders to improve designs.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A creative and resourceful individual with a minimum of (5) years’ work experience in mechanical design and 3D solid modeling.
Possess a solid understanding of electro-mechanical assemblies, electronic enclosure manufacturing; machining and forming of sheet metal, tubing, and aluminum extrusions, ASTM metal shapes and fasteners.
Proficiency with Solid works 3D CAD tools for the concept design, detailed design and drawings of components and mechanical assemblies including sheet metal, machined parts and formed components.
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
Effective organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
Ability to effectively communicate across all levels within the organization, vendors, and others as needed.
Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work in and promote a team environment.
Product Data Management (PDM) system
Experience in Solidworks to AP100US, Mastercam, and DrAbe
Some Industrial design creativity
A working knowledge of motorized parts, bearings, electronics assemblies, displays and controls.
