Job Description

We are looking for an Experienced Veterinary Technician. Leadership position available as well.

  • $2,000 sign on bonus for experienced veterinary technician.

Veterinary Technician (Certified or Licensed Preferred)
Some night, and weekend availability is a must.

Summary:

PVH is an AAHA accredited, 6-7 doctor, small animal hospital (Dogs, Cats, Small Animals, Avian and Exotics) and boarding facility in the heart of Berkshire County. We have provided professional, compassionate and personalized medical care to our clients since 1962. We are open 7 days a week (M-F 8 am-8 pm; Sat 8 am-5 pm; Sun 9 am-5 pm). No on call shifts!

Qualifications and Skills

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma required
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university preferred
  • Two years’ experience as a veterinary technician or four years' experience as vet tech assistant preferred
  • Must demonstrate desire to continue learning in veterinary medicine, care and office skills
  • Proficiency with the Internet, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and ImproMed preferred
  • Certification is preferred but not a requirement for the right candidate

Ability to demonstrate mastery of all routine technician skills such as:

  • Client Communication/Education
  • Animal Handling/Catheter Placement/Injections
  • Assist Veterinarians/Exam Room Protocol
  • Laboratory/Digital Radiography/Ultrasound/Laser Therapy Procedures
  • Medication Preparation
  • Surgical Assistance/Hospitalized Patient Care
  • Safety Protocols and Cleaning Standards
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and more with assistance
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as patient charts, vaccine histories, medical labels, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or employees of the hospital
  • Ability to successfully communicate with diverse personality types
  • Ability to quickly grasp and master technological advancements in computer performance/electronic methods of veterinary care and practice
