Senior AWS Administrator / Engineer

Pinnacle Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior AWS Administrator / Engineer as an addition to our elite Consulting Team in Indianapolis, Indiana,(or Toronto, Canada) for a Direct Hire, Full-time position, occasionally on-site with a hybrid remote model possible.

Pinnacle Solutions is in the business of helping businesses along their analytics journey. To accomplish this, we host numerous environments for our clients' data science groups. You will be joining a small team that works both independently and synergistically with each other and with our statisticians and developers.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience in all or most of these:

• Working in Windows operating systems as well as Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux); mastery of basic OS administration of users, groups, devices, etc.
  • MUST be able to provision and maintain a Microsoft AD Directory Service deployment in AWS.
  • This also implies they can join a server to the domain in Linux or Windows.
  • Any experience with hardening servers or operating in a validated AWS environment is also a plus.
  • Azure experience is a big plus!
• MUST be able to handle EC2 instance setup from provisioning via the AWS console up through OS-level configuration.
• Maintaining, developing, and provisioning RDS instances running MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
• Scripting with Bash, Windows Batch, PowerShell, and Python for IT automation or general programming.
• Networking, setting up site-to-site VPN tunnels in AWS.
• Understanding of how AWS security groups and ACLs work (stateful vs. stateless).
• Setting up a site-to-site VPN tunnel from AWS to an on-premise network.
• Understanding of how to enable and view VPC Flow Logs for troubleshooting purposes.
• Have familiarity with how to use Route 53 for DNS (public or private zones).
• Working with Duo, OpenVPN, and BitDefender GravityZone.
• Using CloudFormation templates to automate deployments.
• Automating backups in AWS using either AWS Backup Manager or Lifecycle Manager within the AWS console.
• MUST have AWS Associate or Professional Certification or Azure Administration Certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Troubleshooting and problem solving effectively while working independently.
• Provisioning, operating and maintaining systems for high availability running on AWS utilizing both RHEL and Windows operating systems.
• Monitoring systems on AWS.
• Disaster Recovery to enable the recovery or continuation of vital technology infrastructure and software systems following a disaster.
• Estimating AWS usage costs and identifying operational cost control mechanisms.
• Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies on AWS.
• Design, manage and maintain tools to automate operational processes.
• Develop puppet scripts to automate server and application tasks.
• Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS.
• Partnering with the development team for deployments.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
