Executive Marketing Director - Hair Care

Summary:

In this important role, you will have marketing responsibility for Pierre Fabre USA's flagship hair care brands, Klorane and Rene Furterer. This individual will direct the marketing programs in both the retail and salon channels of distribution managing a team of 4-6. The marketing efforts will be targeted towards retailers including specialty chains, mass merchandisers, pharmacies, eCommerce (owned, and 3rd party such as Amazon) and salons. The scope of this role will encompass everything from developing strategic programs, to the tactical execution of that strategy, online and offline.

Brief Description of Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop strategic annual integrated omni-channel marketing plans.
  • Project, budget, team and vendor management.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, promotions and tools for both existing and new products.
  • Manage new product launches (innovation) including positioning, unique selling proposition, consumer testing, salon-co-creation, launch marketing.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversee cutting-edge, state-of-the-art 360-degree integrated (online and offline) marketing to achieve ambitious growth goals (in awareness, sales, SOM, NPS, brand equity, size of brand community, etc.).
  • Ensuring that the brands are culturally relevant, where marketing is in sync with trends and culture.
  • Direct the development of annual promotional calendars and B2B/B2C marketing materials.
  • Responsible for budget management for the brand including monthly financial review and analysis of marketing expenses and fiscal housekeeping.
  • Product/promotional P&L analysis.
  • Ensuring that the business and team practices are compliant with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access standards.
  • Pivoting marketing to respond to market/competitive developments and dynamics.
  • Work with outside vendors in the development of selling and promotional materials (and building a best-in-class vendor ecosystem).
  • Circulation and record keeping of all marketing materials for regulatory, legal, and management approval.
  • Review and analyze for insights all sales data, trends and average price data for all SKU's.
  • Develop accurate and reliable US unit and dollar annual and monthly forecasts (using strategic foresight and anticipation skills).
  • Develop Plan of Action for the Sales team direction on marketing focus and activities.
  • Review product packaging and provide product feedback to France (collaborating with HQ colleagues to ensure global marketing materials are relevant in the US market).
  • Work cross-functionally with the Data Activation Office (Business Intelligence, Marketing Intelligence, Cultural & Consumer Intelligence) - to mine insights and data that drive the business.
  • Work cross-functionally with PR & Influencer leads to direct strategy.
  • Work cross-functionally with Merchandising.
  • Work cross-functionally Sales and Education.
  • Maintenance of marketing material inventory and samples inventory (supporting sophisticated sampling programs).
  • Preparation of product training materials and supporting training and education platforms.
  • Participate in market research on consumers, competitors, pricing, etc. and consumer and stylist co-creation.
  • Provide direction to Digital department for development, maintenance and update of brand website, online content and social media entities.
  • Work with Trade Marketing to coordinate the development of marketing support for key retail accounts.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (marketing, business, communications).

Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of Cosmetic/ Beauty industry experience with progressive marketing roles.
  • Marketing experience in the Hair category preferrable, but not necessary.

Additional skills:
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems that include many decision-makers and carry several options for solutions, as well as persuasive written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Consumer co-creation and consumer insights experience.
  • French language skills preferred but not required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of US retail and cosmetic/beauty marketing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of legal and regulatory issues impacting product marketing.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the dynamics driving the US retail/beauty/ market.
  • Demonstrated understanding of program/project management processes and tools.
  • Ability to interact widely and effectively within the company (i. e., on an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary basis).
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems requiring the use of ingenuity and creativity.

Work Environment / physical demands / position type and expected hours of work:
  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • The normal working hours of the office are from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • We are currently operating with a hybrid work from home schedule.
