Job Description

Our client, an International Manufacturer, is seeking a Finance & Business Intelligence Sr. Analyst in their Dallas, TX location.


The Finance & Business Intelligence Sr. Analyst will be a trusted advisor to Business Unit Leaders, providing analytical insights to support the decision-making process in a variety of projects. Key activities include developing and implementing a technology platform that will be used to report on key business initiatives and analyze the profitability of new and existing business. This role reports to the Director of Finance Solutions and will work in collaboration with many groups within and outside Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to address business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) in the development and implementation of the reporting and analytics platform
  • Participate in data centralization activities to move data from multiple systems into central platform(s) for reporting, analysis and profitability calculation purposes
  • Develop databases, extracts, transforms and dashboards using best practices (requirements gathering, project management, user acceptance testing, version control, support, maintenance, documentation)
  • Coordinate User Acceptance & Testing (UAT) activities for the FP&A team and communicate feedback (issues, change requests and new functionalities) to IT and Reporting & Analytics teams to ensure a successful release
  • Coordinate FP&A efforts to define maintenance requirements to ensure data and processes remain up to date
  • Coordinate with IT, Project Management Office, and Reporting & Analytics team to implement a training schedule for FP&A and develop work plans for change management
  • Communicate progress updates, changes and set up alerts for downtime and other service issues
  • Analyze complex data and analytics processes to determine problems, risks and opportunities for reporting, analytics and standardization of processes
  • Document processes and best practices for FP&A team use, and maintain with continuous improvement plan
  • Partner with the management of the Integrations team and Sales Optimization team to ensure proper direction on customer data, product referential management and financial data management
  • Participate in the Data Governance Council to review proposed changes and present risks & opportunities
  • Synthesize large amounts of data into executive level reporting dashboards (e.g. SAP, Qlik, Anaplan, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) to drive performance and decision-making
  • Build strong relationships with Business Unit Leaders, across all channels and business units, to ensure a solid understanding of their business goals and objectives
  • Analyze companywide and cross-business units results; provide performance insights to executive team by developing and implementing Management scorecards
  • Develop recommendations to achieve the organization’s financial objectives and present executive summary to Business Unit Leaders
  • Assist the FP&A team to include any modeling and analysis results into the annual budgeting process
  • Ensure appropriate finance coordination with General Ledger, Controlling, Finance Transaction processing accounting teams, corporate development team for Mergers & Acquisitions and Global Finance
  • Domestic and international travel, while limited, is required

Knowledge And Skill Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to find solutions without specific step-by-step instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while delivering results in a timely manner
  • Entrepreneurial team player, willing and able to work long hours, contribute in multiple ways within the company
  • Effectively communicates and engages with all levels of the organization verbally and in writing, with the ability to build effective partnerships across teams
  • Experience manipulating complex and large data sources and ability to adapt to new systems and applications quickly
  • Experience with financial software (SAP) and/or BI tools (Qlik Sense, Tableau or PowerBI)

Education And Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Information Technology or Business (required) with strong data analysis experience
  • Graduate degree or MBA preferred but not required if applicant has relevant work experience
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in financial/data analysis and a demonstrated ability to prepare dashboards and projections
